"Express Electric responded very quickly to my request for an estimate for whole house surge protectors. They gave us a fair estimate as compared to other estimates we received. He also made great recommendations that we utilized. They were very professional, worked very quickly and were done in no time."

"We did not know what we needed; all we knew was the bathroom light was tripping the GFI and that an outside power outlet was not getting any power at all. Brad G and his partner Nick were extremely punctual (I was on a standby list); came professionally dressed and ready to diagnose and fix our issues. Very quickly they identified that the bathroom GFI was wrongly wired but was ready for replacement. They immediately identified the switch controlling the outside power outlet was burned and offered alternative solutions than simply replacing it based on how we are using the outlet. With the coupons from Angie's list; these two repairs were a lot less than we expected. Brad and Nick were extremely courteous, tidied up after themselves and explained what was going on with each issue. We highly recommend them and would definitely hire again for future electrical issues."

Customers say: Quality work

"Excellent experience. Two of their electricians showed up on time and got straight to work. They figured out the problem in short order and fixed the with no issues . When they almost finished , the manager [or owner ] and another electrician came by to ensure all was well. The team did great work, they left no mess , and provided me with a sense of confidence. As they left, I felt that I had been treated fairly by an honest group of people . Upon receiving my bill ,I knew for sure that I had been treated well by honest people. As an aside, I haven't had much luck with contractors here, but this group has helped to restore my fair in home services companies."

"This is the best experience I've ever had with a repairman. So professional and a great experience. He came the day I called. Had the parts in stock. Shifted his schedule around to come back in 2 days to completely tear down my refrigerator and get it back running. My compressor had seized up and some electrical parts were actually melted. He saved me spending $1500 on a new refrigerator.

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Myrtle Beach, homeowners often overlook the impact of salt air by using non-corrosion-resistant materials or skipping proper weatherproofing. Another frequent mistake is not obtaining required permits from the Construction Services Department, which can lead to costly corrections. Overloading circuits and improper grounding are also common. To avoid these issues, always follow local codes and consider consulting a licensed Myrtle Beach electrician for guidance.

Helpful?

Myrtle Beach's humid, coastal climate can speed up corrosion in electrical systems, especially outdoors. Using corrosion-resistant materials like copper wiring and heavy-duty PVC conduit is essential. The Myrtle Beach Building Department recommends regular inspections after major storms or hurricanes, as salt air and moisture can cause hidden damage. Proactive maintenance helps ensure your electrical system remains safe and reliable year-round.

Helpful?

In Myrtle Beach, most electrical projects—including panel upgrades, new circuits, or major repairs—require an electrical permit from the Construction Services Department. Minor work, like replacing light fixtures or work in detached accessory buildings under 200 square feet, may be exempt. Always consult the Construction Services Department and review the Myrtle Beach Code of Ordinances before starting, as submitting detailed plans is often required for approval.

Helpful?

For Myrtle Beach homes, copper wiring is strongly recommended because it resists corrosion from the salty coastal air, which is a common local challenge. For outdoor or exposed wiring, SCH 80 PVC conduit is preferred due to its durability against moisture and salt. Local electrical supply stores can help you select materials that meet Myrtle Beach's codes and withstand the area's unique climate conditions.

Helpful?

Annual electrical inspections are highly recommended in Myrtle Beach, especially for homes near the ocean. The Construction Services Department suggests checking for corrosion, moisture intrusion, and loose connections. Testing GFCI outlets, inspecting breaker panels, and ensuring outdoor wiring is properly sealed are key steps. Staying on top of maintenance helps prevent outages and keeps your home's electrical system up to local safety standards.
