"JEM Electric is fantastic and knowledgeable. He added to my electrical panel and hooked up my EV charger in my garage with a new outlet. He also worked on my hot water system. I would highly recommend."

"The tech came out, checked every part inside the dryer before moving on to verifying that the electrical supply and cord were correct.  The problem turned out to be that the wall outlet had gone bad.  It was good that they did diagnose (correctly, replacing the outlet fixed the issue) the problem, but annoying that it was the _last_ thing the tech thought to test, rather than first.

"He received the notice early on Saturday morning and called within an hour. He was at my house to get the estimate done an hour after that. We agreed to have the install done the following Friday to give him time to get the permits done. He and his son we exactly on time and the price was actually lower than I anticipated. A totally professional job. This guy is on my list for my next electrical job."

"WB Lightning Rods did an excellent job installing lightening rods on our home. The owner stayed onsite the entire time to supervise the work. He took extra care to plan the rod and cable placement to ensure the proper protection and retain the aesthetics of our home. His crew were knowledgeable, polite, neat and efficient. We could not be more pleased with the results."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

For electrical projects in Sunset Beach, choose corrosion-resistant wiring, such as THWN-2, and weatherproof enclosures rated for coastal use. Use PVC conduit outdoors to protect against moisture and install commercial-grade GFCI outlets for added electrical safety. Select LED fixtures designed for humid environments and opt for outdoor wiring materials that withstand salt air to ensure long-lasting performance.

Helpful?

Common habits in Sunset Beach that can reduce the lifespan of your electrical system include overusing extension cords, neglecting to test GFCI outlets, and running high-powered appliances on outdated wiring. Failing to schedule routine electrical safety checks after storms or using improper outdoor wiring materials can also lead to premature wear and increased risk of electrical hazards.

Helpful?

New homeowners in Sunset Beach should begin with a comprehensive electrical inspection to identify safety concerns. Prioritize installing GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor spaces, followed by upgrading the electrical panel if needed. Next, consider adding surge protection, weather-resistant outdoor lighting, and ceiling fans to improve comfort and electrical safety, especially in the coastal climate.

Helpful?

Completing electrical projects in Sunset Beach offers immediate benefits such as enhanced electrical safety, improved storm protection, and increased energy efficiency. Over the long term, these upgrades help maintain property value, minimize the risk of electrical fires, and ensure compliance with local electrical codes. Modernizing your system can also attract vacation renters and may help you qualify for insurance incentives.

Helpful?

Signs that it’s time to schedule electrical work in Sunset Beach include flickering lights, frequent breaker trips, or outlets that feel warm to the touch. If you notice electrical issues after storms or your home is over 20 years old, schedule a professional inspection. Planning upgrades before hurricane season or rental turnovers can help prevent unexpected disruptions and maintain electrical safety.
