"We had an amazing experience with this company. Luis and his team paid attention to details, worked hard, were professional, and always cleaned up every day before they left. Sylvia was always helpful and patient with all of my endless questions and stopped by on the last day to do an inspection. I would highly recommend Aguirre's paintings and would book them again."

"

Our 70-year old home was looking quite sad with paint peeling on every side, rotten boards, and a general sense of neglect. We were unsure of what could be done to get it back into shape.

Of all the paint contractors we contacted (5 in total), Tyler from Shades of Rose put us most at ease. His bid was very competitive for the amount of work and he was honest, straight-forward, and patient with whatever questions we had. His crew arrived on time every day, were courteous and professional, and cleaned up thoroughly every day. They even removed and reinstalled our crazy storm windows without a complaint - which was a herculean task (Tyler said afterwards that they were the most difficult the team ever had to deal with).

At the end of the last day when we had our final walk around, I was amazed at the transformation of our house. I think Shades of Rose did a tremendous job and I am thankful that we invested in them. Also outstanding was Tyler's reassurance that they would come out to fix up anything that bugged us over the next few weeks. We also have a 3-year warranty and the crew will come out if there are any issues over that time frame.

I would definitely recommend Shades of Rose and I look forward to working with them again in the future.

"Elias Contruction provided a detailed estimate after inspecting the roof and making some qualified recommendations. The project required a few change orders that were not clarified in writing. I would recommend hiring Elias if you get changes in writing. They cleaned up pretty well although they missed a few things due to finishing in the dark. Overall satisfied with the job and cost was 60% of other bids due to sheathing adjustment."

"What an astonishing transformation 4th Generation Painting brought to my 27-year-old cedar home! Their dedicated team spent over a week meticulously tending to every detail: pressure washing, stripping, replacing deteriorated boards, and even removing my old damaged gutters. Then came the true marvel â my tired, weathered cedar regained its youthful charm, resembling a brand-new home. The wood's natural beauty now shines through, making my house truly look like it's been rejuvenated. But that's not all; 4th Generation also worked their magic on a pump house, a garden shed, and a towering two-story cedar barn, leaving each structure looking absolutely stunning. Returning home each day feels like stepping into a brand-new world. Beyond their remarkable craftsmanship, 4th Generation's commitment to cleanliness was outstanding. They left no trace that a major renovation had taken place, showcasing their professionalism and respect for my property. I must also commend Ben Roberts, who worked tirelessly alongside his crew, demonstrating impressive leadership and hands-on involvement. My decision to choose 4th Generation was undoubtedly the right one, even after considering other bids. Without hesitation, I would wholeheartedly recommend 4th Generation for any painting or staining project you might have in mind. In fact, I plan to enlist their expertise for the interior of my home in a few months. A heartfelt thank you to Ben and his incredible team for delivering an unforgettable experience."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

When staining a deck, don’t skip surface prep, avoid staining damp or dirty boards, and don’t apply stain in extreme heat, cold, or wet conditions. Never overload the wood with a stain, as too much can cause tackiness or peeling. Also, don’t forget to test a small area first to ensure the color and finish look right.

Choosing the right product involves understanding deck material, desired finish, and local weather conditions. Opt for high-quality, weatherproof formulations ensuring long-term durability and appearance retention.

The number of coats you need to apply when whitewashing a surface depends on how opaque you want the final product to be. If you're going for a transparent, barely there look, a single coat or two may suffice. For fuller coverage, you'll want to use multiple coats. Another option is to use a less diluted paint to get a thicker coverage.

Wet-sanding and dry-sanding each have pros and cons. Dry-sanding is less messy, so it’s a good option if you’re trying to minimize dust (for example, if you’re sanding an occupied home or working with particularly dry or dusty drywall mud). However, dry-sanding is quicker because you don’t have to keep rinsing a sponge or wait for it to dry before painting.

Whether you can paint over your existing paint depends on what’s on there. Most of the time, you’ll want to sand down or scrape off the paint that’s currently coating your surface. Epoxy paint, for example, won’t let new paint stick to the surface. Latex paint is more forgiving and will accept a new coat, but a primer is recommended if you’re switching colors.
