We were referred to Aire Serv through our google nest system because our heating and cooling system traveled perfectly fine in the bottom half of our house - but not that great at the top. On the hottest days, we would get a “fail to cool” notice from our Nest because our upstairs always had a hard time getting to the desired cooling level. We finally had a technician come out on 9/26/22. He took a look, pulled parts of the system apart and told us a variety of services that needed to be completed. We thanked him and said we would talk about it and reach out this week to discuss how we want to move forward. Problem # 1: The bottom half of our house cooled and heated perfectly fine. However the DAY he leaves our house, the entire house is HOT. The system is no longer working at the top or bottom. We spent the night sweating and trying to figure out how the entire system all of a sudden stopped working? We reached out to the team and simply shared that something was switched off during their diagnostics and asked if someone can come switch it back on because it was working fine before he came. They proceeded to tell us we’d need to pay an additional $125 diagnostic fee to have someone come back since we “did not move forward with any of the technicians recommendations”. What? So, the technician accidentally turns something off and now we have to pay for them to come switch it on? We called them to further clarify and their rep Erin said, “Well this happens when you have as many needs as your system does. So it’s pretty normal that it’d stop working when he leaves. If it’s something he did, we’ll waive it for you. But I saw the pictures - it’s not uncommon for you to experience this”. How does that make any sense? It just so happens that when your technician comes, and we don’t move forward (yet) with your services, the whole system shuts off? That’s not uncommon? Not only does that sound wrong - it’s not great customer service. Especially if… Problem #2: We compared the estimates he provided for the services needed to the market and other quotes and Aire Serv’s prices are well beyond the market’s fees for the same services. Hence, our desire to think about it and better understand why. We didn’t mind paying for the service at all - but what makes it so much higher than everyone else? Problem #3: We had an additional tech come out to check the system. We found that most of the quotes from Aire Serv were for equipment we didn’t need. Not only that but we found that the service tech removed a part from that system that would cause it to fail! He purposely removed the straighter valves from both the liquid line and the section line. This is something the tech had never seen before and there’s no way our unit would run without them. He also crushed down the box filter in the furnace to the bottom of the filter box - essentially making it useless. We believe this is because we didn’t accept their grossly overpriced quotes and by making the system fail, we’d have no choice but tho bring them back out. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone. If you see their name, run!
