"On day 1 they removed (sucked out) 3 levels (and three different types) of insulation. They were very neat and cleaned up afterward. They showed me pictures of the cleared attic. On day 2 they blew in new insulation, sealed an unused vent (which was causing a draft) and installed a new attic hatch (old one was broken, unsealed and not insulated causing a draft). Everything was done as agreed and in the timeline expected. They are also a partner with Energy Trust of Oregon which is a bonus."

"We had a small job to remove/replace insulation that may have been soiled in our attic from a squirrel that got up there years ago. It was mentioned in our home inspection. After going up to take a look, Sean explained he didn’t see any soiled insulation but there was a small area that had been moved away from the corner and it was effectively empty. It was really too small a job though to warrant them coming out to blow stuff in so he recommended just taking a leaf blower up there to redistribute it evenly. Brilliant idea! He also graciously took a look at our crawl space and identified some areas we should address but ones we could do on our own. He was great to talk to and very helpful and reasonable. So nice in these days of everyone trying to upsell everything. If and when we need insulation work, we’ll be calling Dr. Energy Saver! Thanks so much, Sean Becker!"

"Ulises was able to get in quickly and get the job completed insulating my shop ceiling trusses with batt insulation. I would have preferred white FSK instead of clear plastic but it would have put me way over budget Overall they did a good job"

"The Oregon Energy Trust guy was here at the same time, and said the crews had to do substantial work in the attic to repair fan ducts. From all the sawing and hammering I heard, it sounds like quite a bit got fixed up there. It was nice that the Energy Trust guy knew insulation jobs so well and provided reassurances that everything he saw was being done correctly. I'm not going to crawl under the house to see the new vapor barrier and new pipe insulation, have to count on their reputation and good word for that part of the job."

"Crawlspace crew is my new go-to company for crawlspace work. I had a dead animal smell coming from my crawlspace. Crawlspace crew made it to my home that day, found a small mouse nest in the insulation of a heating duct (not easy to find). Removed that section of ducting and insulation, and treated the area with enzyme cleaners. While they were down there they corrected a number of other issues (disconnected vents, entry point closures etc) all at a reasonable cost and explaining everything to me thoroughly and proving photos of the problems and completed work. Very satisfied with the service I received from Dillon and the rest of the crawlspace crew"

Insulation questions, answered by experts

If your Salem home feels drafty, has uneven temperatures, or you notice rising heating bills during winter, it’s likely time for an insulation upgrade. Look for signs like condensation on windows, visible pest activity, or insulation that’s more than 15 years old. For best results, schedule projects in late spring or early fall to maximize comfort and minimize disruption during the rainy season.

Helpful?

In Salem, homeowners often overlook critical steps like installing vapor barriers, which are essential for moisture control in the region’s damp climate. Skipping thorough air sealing or compressing insulation can reduce energy efficiency. Blocking soffit vents or under-insulating attics below recommended R-values are also frequent missteps. Always check for compliance with local building codes and ensure fire safety measures are updated, especially in older properties.

Helpful?

Insulation upgrades in Salem can impact ventilation, HVAC performance, and even electrical systems. Improved insulation may require adjustments to attic ventilation or HVAC settings for balanced airflow and humidity control. It’s wise to check ductwork in crawl spaces, update older recessed lighting for safety, and inspect wiring or pipe insulation to ensure compatibility with new materials and maintain your home’s overall safety.

Helpful?

Homes in Salem built between the 1960s and 1980s, or those with accessible attics and crawl spaces, are prime candidates for insulation improvements. If you experience high energy bills, inconsistent room temperatures, or have added onto your home, upgraded insulation can boost comfort and energy efficiency. Persistent moisture issues or plans to stay long-term make this upgrade especially worthwhile for your property.

Helpful?

After insulating your Salem home, plan for annual checks on attic ventilation and moisture levels, especially given the region’s heavy rainfall. Inspect for pests each fall and monitor for uneven temperatures or increased energy use, which can signal insulation settling or damage. Every five years, a professional inspection is recommended to address any issues early and maintain your home’s energy efficiency and comfort.
