Be sure to get any change orders in writing. We were afraid not to book the work, since they said that it could be months if we did not get on the schedule. After the work was done, we were told that it would be over 20% more because of the number of stairs that were needed. If there is any difference in what was covered on the first estimate to what was discussed with the second person, do not go forward unless they give you an estimate for the difference before the work is started."
