Was impressive, four people over at our house getting the project done. From prepping to finish, these guys came with confidence and did not cut any corners. These guys know what works and what does not with masonry. The extensive knowledge of products and masonry was very helpful. I was not using a foreman, so Peter was able to advise and brought up ideas that were more than helpful. His craftsmanship and finish skills are better than any contractor I have ever used.
Description of Work: Peter and his crew made our outdoor project amazing. They installed large base columns on an outdoor patio cover. Also, a very extensive outdoor mason kitchen from ground up. Lastly, the best outdoor fireplace and wood boxes I have ever seen. These guys are amazing, knowledgeable and honest. Most importantly they exceed expectations. People that come over always revel in the masonry. The rest of the project is great but the masonry is amazing.

They wanted me to start the day after they accepted my proposal. I told the customer I was booked for 4 to 6 weeks and I would try to fit this job in before that. We did all contacting through emails. Then they said they dont check there emails because they dont have smart phones. Which explains to me why the customers didnt answer me back. Several times. When I need info for the job. I am glad they liked my work and I feel bad for the miscommunication. I appreciate there work and glad to hear they would use me again.

Peter, the owner went to a company that had used bricks for sale, picked through a pile of used brick to come up with enough to do our project that would match the existing brick on the fireplace. He then hand cut the bricks to 1/2and quot; thickness so they could be installed similar to tiles. He also had to make corner bricks. He then installed the bricks and 20and quot; x 20and quot; slabs to finish the top of the hearth. It took him about 6 hours to do everything and it looked great when he was done.

First, I should explain that our remodeling contractor initially gave us the name of a Mason to update the front of our older home with stone. After speaking with him over the phone, I decided to do research myself, and found Baker Masonry on Angie's List. Peter came to our home personally, and explained the masonry process as it related to our needs. He was soft-spoken, asked us detailed questions about our vision and immediately impressed us as someone who knows his craft. We hired Peter on the spot. Within less than 2 weeks, he and his hard working, professional crew were transforming the front of our home into a true work of art. Even our UPS driver is impressed! Peter shows up on time, has faultless work ethic, and cleans up any mess after the day's work. He even arranged the stone, mixer and all of his equipment in an orderly fashion on our driveway before he left for the day! I should also add that our initial choice of stone probably would not have looked this terrific, but during our consultation Peter offered suggestions that we opted to take, and we couldn't be happier. You cannot go wrong with Peter Baker of Baker Masonry. He is exactly what customers and homeowners want and need when it comes to professional, artfully done masonry projects. We would have Peter back in a heartbeat!

They're absolutely topnotch. It couldn't got better. He was there everyday. He worked rain or shine. He did little things that made the overall installation worked twice or three times as much. He pointed out things that were wrong with the house that had nothing to do with his installation and so he helped us identify a different issue. Their price is right in a ballpark with everybody else.

Peter Baker was excellent and he did terrific work. It was very difficult to find someone that was going to be punctual and show up when they say they are going to and he was. He just got down to business and our neighbors that had the same type of columns, commented that they wished that they had used him because ours looked so much better. His price was very fair. I plan on using his services again.

After reading lots of positive comments on Anglie's List, contacted Peter to redo our interior fireplace. We're a good hour south of him and so to start we kept it to email and phone calls. Once we both figured out this would happen, he came down to take a good look and preposition some material, then started work. The demolition part was messy and dusty, of course, but Peter took considerable pains to minimize the impact outside the work area. He had a couple of good ideas on reconfiguration and ran those by us during the project. We liked them all and incorporated them. After completion, he did a thorough cleanup. We're doing flooring and a kitchen remodel, too. As soon as those are done and we have the money, we'd like to get Peter back for more work. Most highly recommended!

Everything that others have written about Peter is true: he is professional, responsive, and a tireless worker. But in addition, he has an artist's vision of what would look best in a completed project. He takes into account the style/age of the home and landscaping. He helped expand our original idea into a look that we love; and so many neighbor's comments have been so positive, also. One of them stood admiring the work and said and quot;It ( the stonework) just looks like it's always belonged there....and quot; We are so grateful we found Peter.

Our experience with Peter was excellent. He was quick to respond to my request for an estimate, and we could tell that he knew what we were looking to accomplish. We have a modest home and just needed a small amount of stone work to update the facade. Once we decided to go with Baker Masonry, Peter promptly scheduled our job and finished it in a timely manner. He kept the work area tidy and cleaned up completely when done. His work looks professional and I would not hesitate to hire him again.

Description of Work: Peter Baker and his assistant Chris built me a mailbox out of block and stone surrounding a large metal mailbox. The job took 2 days, plus a few hours another day to pour a footing. I provided the large dVault metal mailbox, which was an added cost, but Peter took care of everything else. His price was very fair for the work involved and for the fine skill they exhibited in building the best mailbox possible. All I can say is that they did a fantastic job matching the look of the stonework I had on my house already. Their work was very efficient and skilled. The final product exceeds my expectations. It is perfect! Even my mailman complimented the mailbox and said it was the nicest one on his route! Now that's a real compliment!!! See the photos I attached. The final mailbox looks fabulous!

Peter came out to install the facade on the front of the house. Mind that I had worked to the point of tears to put up 8-9 rocks over 12 or so hours (never, ever hire me as a mason). Peter and his colleague, in contrast, came out, got set up, installed about 60 sq feet of stone, mortared it and got cleaned up all in about three hours. It looks great. He said he would be there at 8, and the doorbell rang the second that I watched my clock go from 7:59 to 8:00. He was able to come out a couple days (vs weeks) after my initial call, and was pleasant, honest and gracious the whole time. Never even made fun of me out loud, though I know full well that the work I had done myself really deserved it. :) I will absolutely, without a doubt go back to him for any future stone work needs. We're already planning to have some stone put in the back yard, and I'm hoping to have Baker Masonry there!
Description of Work: I tried being handy and installing stone veneer on the front of the house by myself. I put in the vapor barrier (heavy), lath (ouch), and scratch coat. When I went to put up the stones, they kept falling off. After about 12 hours of work, I finally threw in the towel after having only 8-9 rocks up to show for my efforts. I called multiple places, and then stumbled across Peter at Baker Masonry. He totally saved me, and even matched another estimate that I got from what seemed to be a less reliable person. Did a thorough, honest job for a fair price and within a great amount of time

Have to give kudos to Peter again. Peter actually turned down service because he didn't think that he could guarantee the job. Masonry close to dirt is risky and Peter recommended that I replace my rotted pillar trim with new wood, rather than stone.

They did a great job. Peter Baker is easy to work with and really does nice work. He did a good job of coordinating the job with the gate company (Cornerstone Fencing) so that the whole project could be completed in a reasonably period of time. I would hire Peter again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: They built the masonry rock columns (using the rock we picked out) around our heavy metal driveway gate posts and finished them with beautiful masonry caps. The gate company then came back and installed the gate and all the electronics. The finished product is beautiful.

Very high quality work Overall. I'd recommend Peter. All 3 pillars were built square and level. They used concrete blocks -- put mud between and on top of them, placed all cultured stone on that layer of mud, then grouted. All grout matched my existing pillars and all stone matched my existing stone. Caps took a while...but that wasn't Peter's fault. Cap work was good. Peter even helped me attach some signage. Good guy that I wouldn't hesitate to use again

We called several times before he came out to look at the mailbox. He said the mailbox inside the bricks could not be replaced, that he would remove it and replace it with an entire new brick mailbox structure. We found another masonry company that came out, removed the rusted mailbox and cemented in a new one, for less than 1/3 the cost of replacement.

We were referred to Peter by the electrician that was working on our HUGE landscaping project. (see Moss Rock Landscaping). We were in the middle of the landscape project and we had always planned for a fireplace. Our landscaper had not built on before. We were talking with him about one of the "kit" fireplaces that you can add stone to, but these are much smaller and we always envisioned a "real" fireplace. Peter was able to get started with the concrete pad and footing within about a week because we needed to see where the fireplace would be to work the landscaping around it. He is very, very busy in the summer but he goes out of his way to accomodate the needs of his customers. Due to some delays on our part (driveway pouring, etc) He did not start for a few weeks. The fireplace and rock columns took about 3 weeks to build. Peter always let me know when he was going to come out or if he wasn't. It is a very messy process with lots of rock dust from cutting rocks. We could not be happier with the finished product. We LOVE the fireplace and have already enjoyed many evenings sitting outside. The fireplace does not draft well unless there is a blazing fire, but it is outside and there is always a breeze pulling the smoke out. It does not bother us since the smell of a fire makes you feel like you are camping. It puts out a lot of heat when there is a good fire.
Description of Work: Peter Baker built a free standing outdoor fireplace and 2 rock columns. The outdoor fireplace was built from the ground up with an interior structure of mortar blocks, bricks and cement. The outside was wrapped with thin cut veneer real stone. A concrete footing was dug and poured. A hearth and mantel was included. The fireplace is approximately 6 ft wide and 10 ft tall from the ground to the top of the chimney. 2 rock columns were created on our patio. Peter wrapped the exsisting 4" pipe that held up our outdoor covered area. One of the columns is 10' tall and the other one is approx. 7 ' tall due to the sloped roof. The columns are 20" X 20" square. The are also wrapped with real veneer stone. The prep work cost $1595.00 The fireplace cost $6482.00 The rock columns cost $3600.00.

Peter Baker, the owner, came out to look at the job, had various ideas of how to address the project, and said he would submit a bid. After not hearing from him for 2 weeks, I called him to ask for the bid. He said he would email it to me, but I never heard back from him - no email, no call. It's disappointing how many contractors do this! What a waste of their time and ours.

I had the mailbox, so he didn't have to go get it. He had to cut a hole out because the mailbox was too wide. He essentially did maintenance on the entire structure, and then cleaned it afterward, making the whole structure look nice. He did a good job for a good price, showed up when he said he would be there. Nice guy, really liked him. There are very few people that specialize in masonry mailboxes.
