Ron was great contractor to work with. He and his team provided a high quality product and at reasonable price point. He was easy to communicate with and flexible to meet our needs/desires. He was also very transparent and honest and all work was done according to stated timeline. Definitely the best contractor that I have worked with and look forward to working with again.

During my course of researching for the most competent concrete and masonry contractor in the Portland/Wilsonville area, I began asking neighbors in the community for referrals. The name “All About Concrete and Masonry” came up again and again. Not only that, but neighbors were happy to showcase Ron's work for me. Because a previous concrete contractor had poured a concrete patio up against the cedar siding of my home, the siding had dry-rotted! Also, my brick pillars were failing. I needed to know what my options were from a knowledgeable concrete and masonry professional! I telephoned Ron. Ron was prompt, knowledgeable, pleasant and down to earth. He explained my options thoroughly, and provided estimates for various options. On the day the first of the jobs was scheduled, Ron and his crew arrived ready to go to work! I found Ron's crew to be super hard-working and conscientious! When the work was completed, the crew cleaned up the area to perfection. In my book All About Concrete and Masonry is the best, hands-down! Since then, I have had Ron and his crew do all of my masonry and concrete repairs. When the time comes to replace my concrete driveway, I plan to select 'pavers', and All About Concrete and Masonry will without a doubt be my #1choice to do the job!

I interviewed and received bids from five of the top Angie's List picks for concrete work in the Portland area. The quote from Ron at All About Concrete & Masonry was in the middle of the prices the various vendors estimated. Our decision to hire All About Concrete & Masonry was heavily influenced by the obvious skill and attention to detail Ron brought when he surveyed our site. As business owners who are not concrete or construction professionals, we needed someone who could evaluate our development goals and then give us informed, experience-based, professional opinions about our options. Ron did just that. Additionally, of the five vendors we spoke with at our site, Ron was the only one whom we felt clearly understood our requirements and would do the job right the first time. Our project was not a typical concrete construction project. We needed concrete floors poured in an existing building over a damaged and unsuitable older foundation. Our project also required the concrete floor be formed with precisely spaced and sized gaps so we could later install flush-to-the-floor steel tracks for a mobile industrial rack system. We also required installation of floor drains with plumbing to route waste water to specific areas. Following this, we required construction of a rebar-reinforced concrete vault of approximately 10'w x 14'l x 8'h dimensions with a commercial steel entry door. Ron came out with a crew and spent a day taking very careful measurements which were then discussed and verified carefully with me. Over the next two weeks, Ron and his crew came daily and poured the floors and then built the vault. In the end, everything was done exactly as well or better than we had hoped. Ron also took the time to educate me on the concrete curing process and discussed maintenance and other items specific to our project (such as where power would go, etc.). Based on discussions we'd had prior to the commencement of work for future phases, Ron took the time to make sure we could easily connect the work he performed with our planned next stages. Ron and his team were very polite and easy to work with. We had zero problems. The highest praise I can give anyone is to hire them again. Our project is ongoing and we are completely confident that Ron will do the next stages just as well as he's done the first. If you are looking for an experienced concrete professional with reasonable prices who does outstanding work, I strongly recommend All About Concrete & Masonry.

After not making start date called 3 times to find out when they would be coming to start job, was told every time they'd be there in a week, asked for my deposit back and told them when they showed up to do job I would give it back and miraculously they showed up the next day to start job. Very unprofessional job done, crew had no tools to use on the job. Used all my shovels, some of my wood to make forms and wheel barrel had nothing of their own to do the job. Did stairs on a rainy day but had not tarps to cover work so rain wouldn't it wash away, used empty concrete bags and finally went to Home Depot and got some tarps but again used lumber from my yard to secure them. When they finished stairs, they were crooked and left mud and concrete hand prints and splatter on side of my newly painted house. Also had flower bed adjacent to stair it was totally destroyed and cover the plants with the dirt and mud. Patio and walk way were done on another day, concrete pump and concrete truck left big mess of concrete in the street along with huge oil slick from concrete pump truck. Contractor worker didn't clean up, I had to do it myself. Didn't have enough concrete for the the whole job, had to go get bags of concrete to complete the job. Once patio was done rain water wouldn't drain, had big lake in one section of patio. So they had to come and cut grooves length ways and sideways so water would drain making it look like 4 different sections. But problem was because they didn't have patio angled enough so water would run off. When they were done again had mud and concrete splattered all over my newly painted house. Asked them to clean it up but didn't do it.

Emailed Ron to get a bid on a wall that was damaged due to a car accident. He responded very quickly. The next day I had a bid. Was told that he could perform the work within the next week and we set it up. Ron was always available to get a hold. He kept in contact with me. Showed me a picture when the job was complete. Very professional and easy to work with. The work quality was top notch too. If I need this type of work done in the future I will be calling him. Thanks Ron. I highly recommend his services.

The existing stairs and landing were starting to crumble and needed to be replaced.  Ron came out and gave an estimate that was in the middle of the estimates that I got.  He also impressed me with his knowledge and professionalism so I went with him even though he was scheduled 3-4 weeks in advance.  We were able to schedule around a business trip that I had.  The crew was hard-working, courteous and knew what they were doing.  The only slight negative was that the work took a day longer than estimated (three days instead of two) but the price was the same -- I just had to work from home an additional day.  I've received compliments on the stairs and would consider Ron for other work.  While he was here we informally discussed options/costs for a retaining wall and patio pavers.

Wow!  Our driveway and walkways look great.  Ron and his crew started on Monday, removed our old driveway and two walkways and replaced them with pavers from a local manufacturer Willamette Greaystone.  He started on time, finished on time, and his quoted price did not change even though we had several design enhancements requiring additional material and labor,

I would highly recommend "All About Concrete and Masonry"  with absolutely no reservations.  We could not be happier.

Thank you Ron, Jose and the team for a job well done.

The results are outstanding.  The crew came in and scraped, leveled and prepared the surface to perfection.  We are very picky about drainage and Ron and his crew may actually be pickier!!  They are true craftsmen and all 3 sets of steps, all the flower beds and the paver pathways are done in such an artful way we feel like we have been given a new and fancier home.  We especially love our circular paver front porch and steps and the sweeping curves of the path going around the garage.
Another bonus to us was that every member of Ron's crew was kind and sincere. They kindly answered questions, made sure we knew it was ok to walk through the areas they were working on if we needed to and dealt patiently with our crazy dog who was constantly trying to sneak out to see them!!!
The cost of the job was exactly as was quoted plus some additional square footage we added after the quote (that Ron gave us a price on before ordering more pavers) so we knew exactly what we were getting into before the job started.

"(removed member name), It was a pleasure working with you and (removed member name). You both were understanding and appreciated the advise from me and my crew. I look forward to returning and starting the next phase of your hardscaping."

This is a Belgard endorsed provider that was highly recommended on Angie's list.  These factors plus the All About Concrete website, photos, geographic location and responsiveness to a bid request were deciding factors.    At our request sketches from a landscape designer were used to plan a patio and planting beds and the outcome was pleasing aesthetically.  All About Concrete owner Ron has a great eye for lines, curves and patterns to make the landscape designer's ideas work.  He also willingly took last minute changes including adding a dog potty area.  Despite being extremely busy, Ron and crew were timely and fast.  Ron wants to satisfy his customers and responsiveness is really a B+ to A- which cannot be shown on the rating scale.
Various  technical glitches did occur, and we negotiated for the crew to fix them during a break in their very busy schedule.  The crew also left our site messier and more affected than anticipated.  Ron recommended follow up landscaping, and the contractor selected uses different techniques for Belgard paver installation.  Sorting out  professional differences, we paid for one technical redo while staying with Ron's advice and choices on other technical and aesthetic components of the patio and walkways.
Since the project was completed we have received many compliments on what All About Concrete built!

Our primary reason for not having All About Concrete back would be concern about differences between our expectations and the crew's about residential site treatment and clean-up. If there were a way to build into the bid the cost of extra time for site care and clean-up, during and at the close of the project, that would resolve concerns and lead to a "yes"  for "would you use this provider in the future"

Response from All About Concrete & Masonry
"(removed member name), I appreciate your input but not sure of the cleanup issues. When we left the site 1.5 years ago you had mentioned all was great. I am not sure why you are now posting this after all this time. I monitor my job site everyday and it is always left as clean as an outdoor project can be left."

Ron (owner and primary contractor) impressed us with his prompt response to our initial inquiry and subsequent bid for the job. I think we caught him early in the season (April), as he was willing to negotiate the price of the job on the condition we committed to an immediate start and taking on the full scope of remodel work, which suited us just fine.
It was a big job requiring demo-ing the old, cracked composite steps and driveway, brick planter and old patio pavers, but he broke it into three stages so we weren't inconvenienced. Ron estimated it would take 2 weeks, and they stayed on track. His wonderful crew (Serafino and Jaime - I think) showed up every day right on time, were delightful to have on site, worked incredibly hard, contributed great ideas and took meticulous care to get the brickwork perfect.
All in all, we are very glad we selected All About Concrete & Masonry. Ron offered good design suggestions and listened politely when I asked for other options. The artistry and dedication of his masons was impressive. Our neighbors all took note of the lovely work in progress and complimented us on the improvements.
My only suggestion for those seeking to take on a big job like this is to make sure you have a careful conversation prior to each new stage to make 100% certain you agree on the outcomes. Ron didn't provide any sketches of the work beforehand, so I had to trust that his vision matched what was in my own head. For the most part that worked fine, and the one time it didn't, Ron and his crew worked overtime to fix the issue to my satisfaction.
At the close of the main job, Ron said he would return in 2 weeks to touch up the mortar in the bricks. It is September now, and I hope he'll have time to do this once his summer season slows down.

Ron's team did a fantastic job with our path - the end result looks fantastic and was well-engineered given the slope of our yard and existing landscaping. Ron is professional and honest, and was a pleasure to do business with. We will definitely hire him again for future needs. (We did get bids for several contractors for this project and decided to go with Ron based on price and proposed approach.)

Ron and his team at All About Concrete worked enthusiastically to design  build our hardscape plans. They overcame the challenges of our landscape to provide us with outdoor living areas that are both practical and beautiful. Ron is very experienced and skilled in finding the right solution to difficult challenges.
Ron is very easy to work with and always answers his phone. His team worked fast to complete the job and were always ready to adjust direction when required. Most of the areas were laid out before they were fixed in place, so we could make decisions along the way.
Everyone behaved respectfully and were always polite when asked questions. At the end of the day Ron's team cleaned up and left the site in an appropriate state.
Ron completed the brief to the original budget and was very fair in agreeing costs when we added one or two additional items.
In conclusion we are extremely pleased with the end product and we feel that we received good value and a team that behaved professionally.

I interviewed four different contractors for the project and received three bids before choosing Ron and his crew.   Ron's bid was not the least expensive, but I was encouraged by his approach to the project and his communication skills.
Very pleased with Ron's communication skills and promptness to respond.
Schedule planning was very accurate.   Invoicing and billing receipts were accurately and promptly done.
Work crew was always on time,  pleasant to work with, and worked hard and productively
Ron's design ideas were good and welcomed.
Quality of work was outstanding and  we are very pleased with the finished product.
We have received many compliments on the project from visitors for the holiday weekend.
I will be hiring All About Concrete and Masonry for further projects.
