"HVAC Ministries came out on the same day, which is impressive. We had no heat and our water heater was leaking. It is difficult to get services out here to the coast at times. Mr. Cortes was very informative and explained in detail the work needed to be done. He came out on the 29th and they started work on the 31st. ( New Years Eve) They worked all day and into the night! They got it All done in one long day! Impressive! I recommend HVAC Ministries they are excellent, did a great job and cleaned up after themselves leaving no mess. Mr. Cortes and his crew were very professional and pleasant."

"Extremely well. The house was a rental and the previous tenants had a Golden Retriever dog (long hair). The ducts were clogged with dog hair. The crew arrived on time and went right to work vacuuming every duct and the HVAC unit."

"We had Oregon Heating & Air Conditioning install one gas furnace in our basement and one heat pump with electric heating and AC in our attic.  We also had them install 2nd floor bathroom fans as they were working in the attic space anyway. The quote was reasonable though not inexpensive.  The install job was done on time and professional looking but the installers stopped just short of finishing the job.  The attic fan ducting was sealed on the exhaust end so the fans were working very hard to push no air through. When I realized this was the issue they came our immediately and fixed the issue.

We had them put in a fancy pants electronic air cleaner with the AC system in the attic. From day one it never worked.  It sat there with error lights flashing but reseting the power would fix it for about a day so it was hard for the installers to realize there was an issue. I was very impressed with how seriously they took this issue. It took literally 4 years to fix this issue but it turns out in the end there was one bad part that they had already replaced. So a thrid one did fix the issue. Sometimes it took a while to realize it was not working. So what I'm saying is that while having something not working right for 4 years is frustrating for me it was also for them as well. They always came right out, were always on time, and stayed committed to fixing the issue.

The gas furnace they installed has been working just fine. No problems in the last 5 years.

I would recommend Oregon Heating & Air Conditioning despite the issues I had. It's their service that greatly impressed me."

"We had mice in our HVAC ducts. Jesus from Northwest Duct Services promptly came out to give us an estimate and then scheduled the repairs and duct cleaning on a Sunday so that we could be rid of the mice as soon as possible. When Jesus and his helper did the work, they were very professional and cleaned up after the job was done. We couldn't have asked for anything better!!!"

"Evergreen Gas was amazing from beginning to finish. I left a message with some questions, and Evergreen got back to me right away. From the moment they came out to give an estimate to the completion of the project, the Evergreen Gas team was punctual, informative, honest and very friendly. Once we accepted their bid, scheduling was very easy and the team showed up right on time. I barely knew they were there while they were doing the work. They did a thorough clean up, too. They walked me through the new system and left me with a lovely, cool room (which is particularly helpful for this 100 degree weekend!). I'd highly recommend Evergreen Gas if you're looking for HVAC solutions!"

"Dr. HVAC called immediately after I had scheduled my appointment to confirm the appointment. They called to let me know when the tech would arrive and then the tech (Brad) called to let me know he was on his way. Great customer service. Brad was able to come out the same day our air conditioner went down on one of the hottest days of summer. He was very professional, quick, and courteous. He not only fixed our air conditioner, but noticed our furnace had a crack. He was thorough and offered expert advice. Dr. HVAC has gained a new loyal customer."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yes. Getting a whole-house dehumidifier can help you save money on energy bills. How? Your home automatically feels cooler when there’s less humidity in the air (“It’s the humidity that gets ya!” is such a true statement). This means that you won’t need to run your AC as much as you would if you had all that extra humidity in your home.

Some HVAC systems tend to use R410A refrigerant, although if you have an older model it may be using R22. R22 is banned due to its harmful environmental and health impacts, and it is a sign that your AC unit is old enough to consider a replacement and the significant efficiency gains that could come with it.

If your AC unit isn’t cooling and you haven’t figured out why, there are a few good reasons to turn it off ASAP. The source of the issue, whether that be leaking refrigerant or a broken compressor, will worsen and cause more damage to the overall unit the longer the machine is allowed to run. When in doubt, shut it down until you or an AC pro can ensure everything is working properly.

There are several tell-tale signs that your AC coils need cleaning, including:

  • You’re getting higher electricity bills.

  • Your home doesn’t feel as cool as it usually does.

  • Your AC unit is running longer than usual to cool your home.

  • Your home is more humid than usual.

  • The coil is covered in frost while running.

Yes, it’s best to turn off an AC unit that’s blowing hot air to prevent system damage and avoid expensive energy bills. If you let the AC continue running, it will put more strain on the condenser coil and compressor. Plus, if the AC is blowing hot air because of a refrigerant leak, it can also lead to a frozen evaporator coil.
