"I hired RK Electric through one of Angie's Big Deals (2 hours for $99).  My home was built in about 1938 so one of my concerns is the wiring.  Dino replaced some old toggle switches, fixed a wiring issue with a 3-way toggle and also checked out the wiring in a ceiling light that wasn't working properly.  Dino also replaced the upstairs bathroom fan.  The original fan was exhibiting some signs of not working properly.  When Dino checked in the attic, he found that the current fan was not even vented to the outside.  In short the old fan had been exhausting into my attic!  This was a surprise to both of us.  In order for him to finish the fan and vent it properly, he needed additional items (vent pipe, elbows, etc.) so Dino gave me a shopping list and I went to Home Depot and made the purchases while Dino cut a hole in the bathroom ceiling and got everything ready for the installation.  After I returned Dino finished doing the work in the attic so the fan would exhaust to the outside through one of my attic vents.  Obviously, this turned into more than a 2 hour/$99 project, but I was very grateful that the venting issue had been discovered and fixed and that my light switches were safe.
