We work so dogs can play, installing fences since 1990. At DogWatch Hidden Fences, we understand that your pet is an important part of your family. With our indoor and outdoor pet fence systems, you can have confidence and peace of mind about the safety of your dog or cat. Our Hidden Fences are the most advanced and safest pet containment systems available. How the Hidden Fence Works To Keep Your Pet Safe: Through an easy training process, your pet learns to identify and stay within your pet containment area. He learns to respond to an audible signal (a beep that comes from his collar). If he continues to go beyond the audible signal, he receives a mild correction transmitted through the receiver collar. Most dogs learn easily and quickly to respond to the audible warning signal when they get too close to the hidden fence. DogWatch Hidden Fences are safe for your pet and they are effective at keeping pet safe. Proudly serving the Portland Metro area since 1984. Privately owned, we only use the best - guaranteed north west paint products

"Vic and his team are the best. Best company we’ve hired for any work and our patio cover is amazing. They’re on time, easy to work with / schedule with, clear on cost and what is going to be done, and focused on the finished product. We wish he did all general contracting so we didn’t have to hire other people. 10/10 would recommend and hire again."

" In 2011, we bought a house in Portland. The fuel tank had been checked as decommissioned by Dana Thompson, and the soil tested as zero contamination at both tank ends by Soil S*******s. When we went to sell the house last Dec 2024, we were told by the same company which did the original testing, that now it was now badly contaminated. The oil furnace had been replaced by Deutsche Bank with a gas furnace before we bought it, so it became contaminated before we purchased the house. The most recent test was explained as a difference of only a couple inches between clean and badly contaminated soil and we would have to accept all legal liability to neighboring properties….a financial disaster. Ted excavated the tank with impressive accuracy with very tight house spacing. I have no hesitation in giving Ted a 5-star rating. "

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Most homeowners don't need to inform their neighbors before constructing a fence, according to the law, but you will need to make sure that you’re building on the property line or on your side of the property line. Otherwise, the neighbor could complain, which would require you to tear down and reinstall the fence. In any case, keeping them in the loop is the neighborly thing to do!

Whether you inform your neighbors or not, always use property records and a land survey to ensure your fence stays within your property boundaries.

Making a homemade pallet fence involves marking out the fence line and leveling the ground along it. Then, install metal or wooden fence posts that you slide the pallets on top of (two posts per pallet). Fasten them together with 2x4 wood boards that act as an extra layer, keeping the pallet fence secure.

The best wood for fence posts are redwood, cedar, and pressure-treated pine. Wood posts made from these materials will typically lasts between 15 and 30 years, depending on the specific type you choose and your local climate. With proper care and maintenance, a fence post made of these materials can withstand most weather conditions.

Hedges are a better financial investment for a home than fences in several ways. First, hedges are less expensive to install than fences. Fence installation costs $1,775 to $4,600, depending on the type and size. You can also choose to plant smaller and less expensive hedges, knowing that it will take longer for them to mature. Next, mature hedges add resale value to the home, meaning the cost savings get even better when it's time to sell.

DIY is feasible with the proper tools and manual labor, though experienced installers ensure durability and precise alignment.
