"Amadou and his crew are BEYOND. His quote was a third (!) of the price of a competitor, and they did a fantastic job, and super quick. They worked weekends and holidays to get it done. It looks impeccable."

"Stan and his crew did a beautiful, thorough, clean and detailed job rebuilding our 14x30 ft deck. He walked us through the whole process in buying trek, what to look out for and he did such a great job that my neighbors across the street hired him for their deck. Stan has done so many projects around our house (remodeled bathroom, replaced door wall, front door, replaced some of our siding and so much more) and we’ve been so pleased with everything he’s touched, it’s a no brained we let him do our deck too. You’ll never be disappointed. He doesn’t change the price on you mid project and he’s very reliable and always finishes when he says he will."

"Andre showed up on time with the right tools and supplies. The caulking of tile in kitchen and bathrooms is just perfect! Caulking colors were correct. The tile showers were sealed for the first time with all surfaces covered. His fine work could not be improved upon!"

"Bath Remodel Paliy Construction did a wonderful job remodeling our master bath: remove and replace both flooring and countertops, as well as painting. We are very pleased with all of their work. The new countertops and fixtures look great."

"We heard about Jacuzzi through Costco, and we now understand why Costco chose them! Ozzie and Felix did an amazing job with the bath/shower combo remodel. They were very knowledgeable and efficient with their work- finishing within the day while being very throrough! They provided options and explained why, as well as their personal takes. They kept us updated throughout the install, and were transparent about the decisions that needed to be made. I'd like to thank both of them and the rest of the install team for being respectful and considerate of the surrounding small area! For the price, quality of product, and with how much Jacuzzi cares about their customer service, I would like to share my appreciation for the team for making this experience great and easy!"

Small jobs welcome

"Looking for a contractor for your remodeling job? We give John Wood five stars. We hired John Wood of JAW Construction to transform a building shell originally intended to be a shop for building trusses into a small house (officially an auxiliary dwelling unit or ADU) and are thrilled we found him. The job required skills that extended beyond new construction to include the insight, skill and craftsmanship of a highly experienced remodeling expert. He possessed these in spades. Beyond his own expertise, he has assembled a set of sub-contractors that are excellent craftsmen in their own areas of expertise. The job was doubly challenging given that for much of the construction period we were out of state getting our old home ready for sale. This also meant that an extra element of trust was involved. John sent us pictures of the progress, so that we could monitor from a distance. In addition, he was able to identify and rectify several flaws in our design. As with any large construction/remodeling project, there were some unexpected expenses that came up, but John worked with us to help limit cost overruns, sometimes foregoing profits. He was also always up front about the costs of the various components. Our new home is gorgeous and reflects his sharp eye for detail. We couldn’t be happier. In short, if you want a highly skilled, trustworthy, hardworking contractor for your large (or small) job, we highly recommend John Wood of JAW Construction."

Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel questions, answered by experts

By code, the smallest a bathroom can be is 60 inches wide by 56 inches deep to be considered accessible. An area of 16 to 20 square feet is enough to accommodate a toilet and sink with sufficient clearance. Usually, a space that’s three or four feet by six to eight feet is big enough for a half bath to be added.

Plan your budget, storage needs, accessibility features, and design aesthetics before starting.

It is less expensive to build up than it is to add a bedroom or a bath if you want to increase your home's square footage. This is because it requires less material and labor to do so. Adding a second story only requires additional framing and structure without the need for a new foundation or space on a property.

A bathroom renovation will not be tax deductible in most cases. However, if you are renovating the bathroom to meet the medical needs of someone who lives in your home, you may be able to take a deduction. If the bathroom renovation is occurring in a rental property, it could also qualify for a tax write-off.

Yes, it could be worth buying and remodeling an old house. You can potentially purchase an older house for a lower price than a newer house. With less of an upfront investment, you can devote more of your budget to the remodeling work. If you’re thinking of remodeling an old house and then reselling it—called house flipping—focus on projects that deliver the best ROI for home improvements.
