"We're selling a beautiful home in a historic neighborhood, and our real estate agent suggested we make some repairs and improvements to increase the sale value. I solicited bids from 5 contractors, and Amadou from Lo's Contracting stood out as the right choice from our first meeting. He was friendly and punctual, and worked with us to understand our goals (return on investment during a home sale) and put together a detailed and organized scope of work. The job included a light kitchen remodel (painted cabinets, granite counter top, new fixtures and appliances), light bathroom remodel, interior paint and touch up, exterior siding repairs and touch up, and about a million other little details. His prices were competitive against scrappier, disorganized contractors, and the work started the same week we signed. His crew did a great job, the communication was solid, and he resolved the one problem we had (a bulge in a new marmoleum floor) quickly and without question. I truly can't recommend Amadou and Lo's contracting enough."

"Just had our kitchen remodel completed by them and couldn’t be happier! Job was done in the estimated timeframe and on budget. Stan was great to work with. He made great recommendations when we were unsure or stuck on something, and kept us well informed on timing and any issues that came up every step of the way. He and everyone he brought in were very professional and worked hard to get the job done. We are already planning to have more work done by them in the near future. Highly recommend."

"Our master bath remodel was done very efficiently. All the workers were very professional and expert in their specialties. And they made sure to lay drop cloths to prevent from tracking dirt. Always cleaned up after the work."

"Bath Remodel Paliy Construction did a wonderful job remodeling our master bath: remove and replace both flooring and countertops, as well as painting. We are very pleased with all of their work. The new countertops and fixtures look great."

"We had a tub to tub and also a tub to walk-in shower remodel done by Domingo & Andy and Colton & Tyler, respectively. They were a delight to work with and very efficient in their work. We could not be more pleased with the results. We highly recommend Jacuzzi Bath Remodel of Portland. Thank you!!!"

"Our house was in need of a kitchen remodel that involved completely changing the layout of our kitchen, so my wife and I extensively researched the best construction/remodel companies around. We met with Art, one of the owners from JDI Construction, and were able to discuss the vision for our kitchen plans, budgetary needs and JDI's process with design and construction, and knew they were a perfect fit. JDI's designer, Denise, helped us outline the scope of work and crafted some kitchen layouts that perfectly fit our needs. Denise was incredibly knowledgeable and designed a kitchen that not only opened up more space for us, but also afforded us more cabinet storage and usable countertop space. Once the designs from Denise were locked in, our project manager, Eric, coordinated each step of the way through the remodel and was so communicative throughout the process so we understood what the crew was working on each day and when they would arrive at our house. I've never heard of a remodel that completed on time or on budget, but JDI managed to pull it off! We are extremely impressed with the end results and will be recommending JDI to anyone looking for any home remodeling or construction in the future."

Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel questions, answered by experts

Walk-in showers do require a little extra maintenance. The glass is prone to mildew and hard water buildup, so you’ll have to clean your glass shower door more frequently. They’re also harder to use than a tub for small children, and if you choose an open shower, you’ll get less privacy with a potential draft.

Most codes require 15 inches on either side of the toilet's centerline (from the wall or vanity) and at least 21 to 24 inches between the toilet and the wall in front of it. These codes ensure that your toilet is easy to use and access, even in small bathrooms. Check your local building codes for the exact measurements required.

A frameless shower door installation can increase your home’s resale value because of its modern aesthetics and luxurious look. Not only do frameless shower doors provide more space in the bathroom and enhanced utility and functionality, but this upgrade can promote a luxurious user experience. If you’re looking to sell your home in the near future, this could be a good upgrade for the bathroom.

The smartest way to pay for home renovations is usually to avoid interest as much as possible, which makes paying in cash the best option from a financial perspective. However, paying in cash depletes your savings and could leave you without funds for emergencies in the future. If you don’t have the cash to pay for your remodel, home equity loans and home equity lines of credit usually have the lowest interest rates.

If you love long soaks, appreciate spa-style decor, and don't mind the extra space, a Roman tub is a beautiful addition to your bathroom.
