"Our regular, longtime yard maintenance professional got injured in a car accident and was unfortunately injured enough to be out of commission for the foreseeable future. We contacted a few different companies and found JZ Brothers to be responsive, professional, and very reasonable priced. They have completed initial yard clean-up, and did a great job! We look forward to working with their friendly and talented crew regularly for our lawn maintenance and other yard/house projects."

Small jobs welcome

"Jamie and his assistant were prompt, organized, hard workers, polite and kind. They arrived early., got right to work, did everything they had said they would do and the cleanup of their work was fantastic. They worked hard and do a fantastic job cleaning up weeds and blackberries in the yard in the garden in the creek and in the flowerbeds . The winter cleanup is now done and all I have to do is wait for spring so I can putt around the garden and plant bulbs and enjoy the yard. I put their phone number in my phone so I wouldnâ t lose it. They did such a good job I will be calling them again. I am so glad I found such a good company. Fantastic!!!"

"Great experience. I have a 5 acre property with 2 sloped acres of field. They mow it effectively, reseed well, prune large trees, and are generally helpful with everything yard related."

Lawns questions, answered by experts

No, it’s not necessary to remove all the leaves from your lawn—in fact, leaving some behind can be beneficial. While it's important to clear thick layers of leaves that can smother your grass, leaving a light scattering of leaves can help feed your soil while also providing safe winter habitat for pollinators like bumble bees. Leftover leaves will eventually break down, enriching the soil and promoting healthy lawn growth.

If possible, you should prioritize pulling weeds up by hand. However, be sure not to use your bare hands, as many weeds are sharp or otherwise irritating when they come in contact with skin. Always don thick, protective gardening gloves to protect your hands when you pull up weeds.

Using specialized equipment, they aerate thoroughly, alleviating compaction and enhancing root health.

If composting feels too complicated, mulching is an effective alternative. While composting focuses on breaking down yard waste to feed the soil, mulching uses that same organic material as a protective top layer. It's a quick way to get value from leaves, grass clippings, and other yard debris without the time or effort composting requires.

Raking is one way to remove moss from your lawn. However, if you rake live moss, it can spread and exacerbate the problem. Instead, use a moss killer, then wait a couple of weeks before raking to ensure the moss is dead and can’t spread to other areas of your lawn.
