"Our regular, longtime yard maintenance professional got injured in a car accident and was unfortunately injured enough to be out of commission for the foreseeable future. We contacted a few different companies and found JZ Brothers to be responsive, professional, and very reasonable priced. They have completed initial yard clean-up, and did a great job! We look forward to working with their friendly and talented crew regularly for our lawn maintenance and other yard/house projects."

Small jobs welcome

"Jamie and his assistant were prompt, organized, hard workers, polite and kind. They arrived early., got right to work, did everything they had said they would do and the cleanup of their work was fantastic. They worked hard and do a fantastic job cleaning up weeds and blackberries in the yard in the garden in the creek and in the flowerbeds . The winter cleanup is now done and all I have to do is wait for spring so I can putt around the garden and plant bulbs and enjoy the yard. I put their phone number in my phone so I wouldnâ t lose it. They did such a good job I will be calling them again. I am so glad I found such a good company. Fantastic!!!"

"Great experience. I have a 5 acre property with 2 sloped acres of field. They mow it effectively, reseed well, prune large trees, and are generally helpful with everything yard related."

Lawns questions, answered by experts

DIY is possible for small amounts of waste. Professional services handle larger volumes efficiently.

Yes, but it depends on what you have planted in yours and the extent of the damage. Hardier shrubs and plants with droopy leaves have a better chance of bouncing back, but do go ahead and cut back any broken branches or damaged portions. Fertilizer can help, but wait until you spot new growth before you feed any plants.

Raking is one way to remove moss from your lawn. However, if you rake live moss, it can spread and exacerbate the problem. Instead, use a moss killer, then wait a couple of weeks before raking to ensure the moss is dead and can’t spread to other areas of your lawn.

The time that it takes to fill in a pool with dirt varies based on the size of the pool and the equipment you have available. Using heavy equipment, like an excavator rather than a shovel, will significantly cut down on the time it takes to complete the project. With the right equipment, it may only take a day or two. However, after the initial filling, the dirt will continue to settle over the following weeks and months. You may need to add more dirt to make the empty area level with the rest of the yard.

To reduce landscaping costs, you can implement several strategies at every stage. Consider doing the work yourself (DIY) to save on professional labor fees. You can also repurpose existing features and materials from other home projects. When purchasing new items, choose more inexpensive materials and opt for softscaping over hardscaping where possible. Another effective method is to buy young plants or plant from seed, which is more cost-effective than purchasing mature plants.
