"arrived on time and completed replacement of 3 basement glass block windows. Clean up of broken glass that fell into the house could have been better but not enough to change rating."

"Very professional and quality workmanship. The company worked with me in the planning and completion of this project. They were really helpful with meeting city codes and working with the inspectors. I would highly recommend them for and concrete construction project."

"Brad Crawford was professional, personable and did a beautiful job of framing and installing 2 stained glass windows that my mother made over 40 years ago. The finished product is exactly as I pictured it and his craftsmanship is meticulous. Highly recommend."

"I had recently bought a used car which had very a very cheap and distorted windshield previously installed. It was so bad I would get dizzy or get headaches while driving. I called around looking for different prices, and not only was Guardian Auto Glass the cheapest, they were the only company that had a kind, knowledgeable person answering the phones to give me information that I needed.

I had called around to get quotes, and when I mentioned I had their coupon from Angie's List, they saved the quote under my name so if I could call around some more and come back to them if I wanted. A few weeks went by before I decided to go through with getting my windshield replaced, and they still had the quote saved under my name when I called which was very convenient so I could set up an appointment right away.

They set up my appointment for the next day, in which the mobile service was going to come to my house to do the installation. The employee was right on time, and it took him less than an hour to replace the windshield. The glass is crystal clear, no distortion or imperfections whatsoever. While he was installing the windshield, he was very professional and courteous, and answered all my questions with intelligence and honesty.

I was very worried about having my windshield replaced, especially considering it had been replaced before with very cheap and dangerous glass, but Guardian Auto Glass exceeded my expectations, and I will definitely do business with them again if needed."

"I contacted Sealrite on Angies list and received a response within an hour. I was able to get a rough quote with the dimensions I gave and a next day appointment. The Technician was great. He explained the process and gave an time when as to when he would finish. Overall, I am very impressed with Sealrite and would use them again. Thank You"

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

Yes, professionals can install decorative or colored glass block patterns for a unique look.

Yes, many professionals provide custom-cut glass replacements for enclosures that require precise sizing.

Luckily, glass block windows need minimal maintenance. Other than regular cleaning, the only maintenance involved in having a glass block window is inspecting for cracks every year and applying sealer to the mortar joints if the blocks are set in masonry mortar. Glass block windows hold up well against wind and moisture better than traditional windows and are not prone to rot.

Glass block installation can be relatively expensive due to the range of material costs and the labor time to assemble this type of specialty window. The process proceeds slowly as the glass does not absorb moisture from mortar and silicone caulk takes longer to harden, leaving spacers to hold up the structure until the caulk or mortar begins to cure. Plus, if your current windows have structural issues or damage, you’ll need to repair them before beginning the project, increasing your bottom line.

Glass block windows typically last for 15 to 30 years, which is slightly less than the 20- to 50-year lifespan of standard windows. You can extend their life by resealing them every few years. Professional installation is also key to ensuring the windows are placed correctly and will function properly for years to come. A professional installer will have the necessary skills, tools, and knowledge to install these features and can identify potential issues like damaged frames or cramped areas during a consultation.
