"CDJ Remodeling did an excellent job for me. The 'crew' was meticulous, organized, thorough...I could go on. (And nice!) I was more than satisfied with their work ethic, and my house looks amazing. (They painted my entire lower level, including trim, baseboards and ceilings.) I will have no hesitation in calling them to complete other projects at my home."

"I am delighted to have found Jaime’ Quality Home Improvements! He did a total rebuild of our wet bar in the family room and a remodel in the half bath. He did all building of the bar, flooring, installed lighting, wall coverings, electrical, plumbing, etc. His work and attention to detail are amazing. He thinks things through and finds the best solution, which I very much appreciated. He completed the projects in a timely fashion and was very fairly priced. I will use him for other projects I plan to do. I recommend him VERY HIGHLY. Great personality and great person! Thanks Jaime!"

"Bob is very professional and provides great customer service.  He gave us an estimate soon after we contacted him and was able to schedule the work within the same week.  Even though he was tearing down old plaster and using a sander, there was no mess left after he was finished.  The closet looks great.  He even matched the texturized finish of the original plaster.  I couldn't be happier with the job."

"I initially purchased a "Big Deal" for painting a few small exterior areas. Later that summer, following a city home inspection, I hired Kiss Coatings to paint the remainder of the house Kiss Coatings did a thorough job and were respectful when it came to communicating and cleaning up. However, they promised to return the following summer to do any necessary touch-up painting, which they did not do. I sent repeated messages to ask them to follow through on a couple of areas but I never received a response."

"An ?A+? for everything that they did. I know that the pricing was good, cause I had a friend that gave us a quote. I know their pricing was good, they?re reliability, the quality, promptness. There is nothing that you could say negatively about them. They are a fantastic company. Fantastic job. Workers were phenomenal.

They did it, it was rainy, muddy at time. They crawled around through the mud and they tore the old deck out, they put the new deck in. They stained it, power washed it after they installed it. It just couldn?t be any better. "

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

A deck is typically attached to a house and accessed via the back door. Decks are usually constructed from wood or composite materials. A terrace, on the other hand, is a raised platform that can be attached to or detached from the house and is typically made from a hard-paved material, such as paving stones. Terraces can be built on the ground or on the roof of a home.

You can add a roof to most decks, but you need to have it inspected first. If your deck didn’t come with a roof initially, it may not be able to handle the weight without some structural changes. You can add additional supports to your existing deck to safely add a roof, and tying your deck’s roof to an exterior wall can help add some structural stability, but remember these aren’t DIY projects and need to be left to a pro.

It depends on the type of wood. The average cost to build a deck out of pressure-treated lumber is $15 to $25 per square foot, but more affordable varieties such as bamboo and cedar cost less at around $3 to $10 per square foot. However, when comparing the cost of vinyl decking versus wood decking, it’s important to also consider ongoing maintenance costs. For example, most woods require regular sealing to keep them protected against weather and rot.

There are several perks to building a deck around your inground or above-ground pool. Specifically, building a deck around a pool gives you space to lounge and sunbathe, easy access to monitor kids in the pool, extra room for entertaining and dining, an anti-slip surface for post-pool fun, and enhanced aesthetics.

Yes, deck pier blocks can be used as an alternative to traditional deck footings, particularly for small or low-to-the-ground decks. Unlike poured concrete and buried post footings, deck blocks don’t require digging or pouring. However, their use is regulated by local building codes, and they may not be permitted in areas prone to high winds, earthquakes, or hurricanes. Always consult your local building codes before choosing them for your deck project.
