"Herb and his guys were exceptional. We hired them to complete the project after another contractor started and was unable to finish. Guaranteed Painting took it to another level and made our house look better than we hoped for, and their attention to detail was tremendous. A telling example: When they finished, the job, the painters even replaced the long line of small plastic containers that my wife placed in the back of the house to catch rain water off the roof."

"I had just bought a house in Santa Fe that desperately needed new paint throughout to brighten the interior. There was just over a week between close and when I'd be arriving with my furniture. Several larger painting companies were booked into early next year. I found Harald on Angi-- he gave me a fair estimate and *guaranteed* he could do the whole job in a week. He started the morning after close and worked every day to get it done, even applying two coats to most walls. He was particularly adept at finding the right color that would brighten the walls/ceilings while still speaking to the stained wood doors and trim. The new paint has made a world of difference, the house looks and feels so much better. I would recommend Harald to anyone looking for someone reliable who does good quality work."

"Hired A+ to restore roof canalies, paint a 100' cinder block wall and to restore stucco pigment on 3 exterior house walls. They were fair, prompt, highly skilled, clean, efficient and responsible. Will definitely hire these professional again."

"Great company. On time, kind, honest, quiet. Some minor oversights but CAME BACK and fixed. Great painter. I would ask for more paint leftover but overall outstanding paint job! He also fixed two tracks for a sliding door I’m porcelain tile that you have to drill into, couldn’t get a contractor to touch it but he did it perfectly with confidence and it came out great!"

"I'm so glad I found this company. They were quick to respond to my request. On time and got to work right away. We had them do a paint job and ended up having them do some stucco patch work as well. Both jobs turned out great. They are professional, friendly, and reasonable. We will definitely be working with them in the future."

Painting questions, answered by experts

If you paint a vinyl fence, it will likely stick to it for only a brief amount of time. This is because vinyl is not a porous material, so it's not an ideal surface for holding paint. Initially, paint will stick to your fence, but it will eventually peel off. Applying primer before painting your vinyl fence will help paint last longer. Certain primers are well-suited to vinyl, which means you can paint vinyl siding with the proper preparation.

Wood stains last anywhere from two to five years, depending on exposure to the elements, your local climate, the type of stain, and the surface it’s on. For instance, vertical surfaces last longer than horizontal surfaces. Some types of woods, like dense hardwoods, will require a recoat yearly, as they are too dense for the stain to absorb. In any event, apply a recoat every 2 to 4 years. As for storage, a can of unopened stain can last up to 5 years, though results may vary.

On most untreated wood fences, there is no need to sand before treating. You typically only need to sand if there’s an old coat of paint or stain on your fence. If you do need to sand off a previous paint or protective coating (like an old stain or sealant), use medium-grit sandpaper.

If your cedar fence is new, don’t delay. Unlike treated pine, you don’t need to wait months for the wood to dry out for it to accept stain. With cedar, the sooner, the better. Seal cedar within two weeks of installation to prevent the sun from fading its red color.

Moisture and rot are the largest threat to wooden fences. Stain can help your wood fence last 15 to 20 years, but only if you choose a stain with waterproofing qualities or add a sealant. Oil-based stains create a thicker moisture barrier than water-based stains, though both are mold and mildew resistant. You’ll generally need to re-stain your fence every one to eight years to get full protection.
