Customers say: True professional

"Mike and Micah are gifted artisans. Never in our wildest dreams did we expect that we would end up with the amazingly beautiful and perfect plaster that we did! We didn't know it was possible!!!! I'm telling you... if you hire these astounding professionals you will not be disappointed!!! We had several projects in our home from a kiva fireplace, an entire bathroom remodel, pony wall in the entry and patch work in the kitchen. I cannot speak highly enough about every aspect of the job from matching the colors to perfectly smooth walls and gorgeous natural trowel marks to perfect lines and joints. I just wish I could now have them re-do my whole house!!!"

"The crew showed up every morning on time. They patched/drywalled and textured numerous small areas. The texturing was so good, that it is almost impossible to detect where the repairs where made. They also framed, drywalled and textured the kitchen area for recessed lighting installation. They repaired an area where there was a shower leak. They replaced the drywall and textured an area where a closet had been removed. On every part of the project, they exhibited superior workmanship. And at the end of every day, they cleaned up after themselves. Hire them again? Definitely yes!

"I recently hired Elevare Builders for some drywall work that resulted from a roof leak. There was extensive water damage to two walls. The work completed was excellent and fast. The work crew went above and beyond what was initially requested as additional damage area was discovered. Elevare repaired everything and conducted the work at the agreed upon price! I could not be happier with the work performed and the professionalism of the workmen! Upon completion you cannot tell there was ever a water leak or a repair. Great work, highly recommend!!"

"I contracted Just Stucco to re-stucco my entire house after getting quotes from 4 places. It wasn't cheap, but the quotes from different companies were all in the same ballpark. This is the post-COVID reality. The owner/supervisor was very confident of his price and his company's craft -- there was no pressure sales tactics or mind games at all, which gave me confidence. Indeed, the work went exactly the way he described it would go, with no delay or any cause for anxiety on my part. Halfway through I asked him to also repaint my garage door and water drainage; they gave me a reasonable price for that, and the foreman even painted faded areas I didn't have time to ask him to do. Overall I was very satisfied. One always have to wait a bit to see how the new stucco withstand the New Mexico weather, but I don't anticipate problems. I strongly recommend "Just Stucco & Windows.""

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

Address plaster repair immediately if you spot bubbling or soft spots before the summer monsoon season. Cracks around window frames in older adobe homes also require urgent attention, as they indicate foundation movement. Hairline interior cracks during dry winter months remain stable until spring. Albuquerque experiences dramatic temperature swings, so address exterior damage in late fall before the ground freezes.

Helpful?

Traditional adobe homes require lime-based or earthen mud mixtures for plaster repair. Avoid rigid cement products, as they trap moisture and destroy the underlying adobe bricks. Apply vapor-permeable finishes to ensure your walls breathe properly. For exterior surfaces, choose highly UV-resistant pigments to withstand the intense Albuquerque sun. Always verify local historic district regulations before altering the visual character of your exterior finishes.

Helpful?

Interior plaster repair affects evaporative cooler ductwork, requiring temporary disconnection and careful air sealing. In older NM homes, opening walls exposes outdated electrical wiring that requires evaluation under current safety codes. Repairing areas around traditional wooden roof beams demands precise sealing to prevent moisture rot. Treat homes built before 1978 with extreme caution, as disturbing the walls requires certified professionals to manage lead paint.

Helpful?

Schedule plaster repair if you notice white mineral deposits on your walls, which indicate active moisture intrusion. Inspect your exterior walls every October after the monsoon season to catch hidden water damage. Press firmly on walls near baseboards in adobe homes; soft or spongy spots mean the underlying structure is eroding. Check for widening cracks each spring after Albuquerque freeze-thaw cycles.

Helpful?

Historic adobe construction complicates plaster repair because thick walls demand breathable, historically accurate materials. Pueblo Revival homes feature plaster applied directly over brick rather than wood lath, requiring specialized techniques. Flat roofs are common throughout NM, meaning ceiling damage stems from parapet drainage issues rather than plumbing leaks. Diagonal cracks near wall corners indicate ongoing structural movement from regional seismic activity.
