"I highly recommend Javier and Powerick Electric. He took the time to ask questions about my needs and wants before he bid on the job, such that he delivered a high quality solution. I am very happy with the completed work. Scheduling with him was easy and he was very flexible and prompt. When doing the work, he took the time to do it right and not rushed at all. I would -absolutely- hire Javier again, he was an honest, fair, and reliable contractor."

"Very prompt - they come when they are scheduled. During the estimate process the electrician suggested a better means of getting power to a new outlet using existing power sources. His estimate was more reasonable than that provided by another Home Advisor recommended electrician who didn't even bother to look on the roof where the new outlet was being installed. I will call AKA for any future electrical work."

"Mike was very responsive and reasonably priced. He installed a 220V line and an EV charger in my garage. A 65ft long line needed to be run on our flat roof from the electrical panel. Very neat, very professional. Work was superior to previous work we've had performed by other electricians. I'll be sure to use him again should I need more electrical work at my residence."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

For electrical projects in Albuquerque, use copper wiring with the correct gauge for your project—typically 14-gauge for lighting and 12-gauge for outlets. Install GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor areas, as required by local code. Always choose materials that meet National Electrical Code standards, and consult the City of Albuquerque Planning Department for guidance on approved products and installation practices.

Helpful?

In Albuquerque, it's wise to schedule annual electrical inspections to check for issues like loose connections, aging wires, or malfunctioning GFCIs. The New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department recommends periodic reviews to ensure compliance with updated codes. Seasonal checks—such as testing outdoor outlets before summer—help maintain safety and prevent small problems from becoming major repairs.

Helpful?

In Albuquerque, most electrical projects—such as panel upgrades, new wiring, or installing major appliances—require permits from the City of Albuquerque Planning Department. The New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department also oversees electrical licensing and code compliance. Inspections are required at key stages, and homeowners should always verify permit requirements before starting work to ensure safety and avoid penalties.

Helpful?

Taking on electrical work yourself in Albuquerque can reduce costs, but it carries risks like code violations or safety hazards if not done properly. Licensed electricians are familiar with local codes and permitting processes, ensuring work passes inspection and is up to standard. According to the City of Albuquerque Planning Department, hiring a professional often leads to safer, more reliable results and protects your home's value.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Albuquerque often make mistakes like overloading circuits, skipping permits, or using improper wiring techniques. Failing to install GFCI outlets where required or neglecting to schedule inspections can result in failed approvals or safety hazards. The City of Albuquerque Planning Department stresses the importance of following local codes and consulting licensed professionals to avoid costly errors and ensure long-term safety.
