"MD excavating was very professional, on time and very thorough. I was in need of emergency work due to upcoming events and the staff were sensational with working with my schedule and ensuring everything I needed was completed. I never once heard them complain and the boss was present to make sure I was satisfied with the work. Top recommendations for sure."

"Last spring, when the forest service cleared our land, we noticed the side of our mountain had been eroding over the years. So much so that the porch was sinking. After 5 contractors came to check it out, devised a plan, and then deserted the project, A and E Construction saved the day! Mr. Alan Garcia and his team were highly professional and dependable. A and E built a multi-layered railroad tie retaining wall for support that also improved the aesthetics of our home. Mr. Garcia worked with our vision and made it happen. Many thanks to A and E!"

"Cool Breeze listened to what we wanted, helped us design the kitchen for maximum storage and ease of usage. They were prompt, cleaning up as they progressed. They also replaced counter tops in two bathrooms. We were very comfortable with them in our home. I would definitely recommend Cool Breeze to family and friends."

"Excellent. I've never found anybody that knows as much as he does about plumbing, electrical and HVAC. He's just absolutely wonderful. I would not use anybody else. He knows and explains things. He's a bit cheaper on some of the main plumbers."

"During the demolition of my burned out residence they found a box of pictures and they rescued them for me and put them on a safe place. Also they discovered a bee hive during the removal and contacted someone to come remove the hive. I can't recommend them highly enough. It was a pleasure doing business with them"

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Foundation cracks accompanied by sticking doors indicate severe soil movement that requires excavating to fix drainage issues. Sunken yard spots or persistent pooling water after an Albuquerque monsoon signal collapsed utility lines or grading failures. Slow drains point to crushed sewer pipes needing replacement. Treat any sudden ground depressions or sinkholes on your NM property seriously, as they demand immediate professional assessment and earthmoving to identify the hazard.

Helpful?

Start by addressing drainage grading to direct heavy monsoon stormwater away from your foundation. You should also prioritize trenching for a drip irrigation system to support drought-friendly landscaping. For older Albuquerque homes, inspect your sewer laterals to see if you need excavating to replace aging clay pipes. Finally, break up shallow caliche layers to ensure proper drainage and allow deep root growth for any new NM desert plants.

Helpful?

Hardened caliche layers and expansive clay soils make excavating highly complex in Albuquerque. The dry high desert climate creates extremely compacted dirt that requires heavy equipment. Properties near the Rio Grande face high water tables, while West Mesa homes sit on tough volcanic basalt. Sloped properties demand strict erosion control, and older NM neighborhoods contain dense, unmapped underground utility lines that require careful navigation to prevent dangerous accidents.

Helpful?

Albuquerque homeowners can hire several types of professionals for excavating. General contractors handle site prep and grading for residential projects. Utility specialists focus on trenching for water and gas lines. You will also find septic system experts for properties outside the city sewer grid. Foundation specialists navigate expansive clay soils, while drainage experts manage stormwater. Finally, some contractors specialize in archaeological preservation for properties near historic NM corridors.

Helpful?

Overwatering your yard causes expansive clay soils to swell, which destabilizes backfilled trenches. Failing to clear debris from drainage swales before the NM monsoon season leads to severe erosion. Planting large trees near utility lines allows roots to destroy underground pipes. Additionally, driving heavy vehicles over recently completed excavating work causes uneven settling. Finally, allowing flood irrigation water to pool near your Albuquerque foundation accelerates dangerous soil shifting.
