At New Mexico State University I was educated in Horticulture and Landscape Design. Under the Horticultural program we learned about Agronomy ( soils) , Entomology( insects) , Biology, Chemistry , Pathology ( diseases). Everthing that was needed to be a Professional. Sure I have my education but I've learned so much from my hands on experience. Many years ago when I started Summersweet Landscapes. Other landscapers would ask me. "Do you need a degree to do landscaping"? I answered " no you don't , but I do". I started Landscape Design when I was in high school. I was trained by a Horticulturist also from N.M.S.U. He taught us that the Horticultural field was a professional one. And that the industry should be respected as one. Professional. He had all students join Future Farmers of America. It was mandatory , inorder; to be enrolled in his class. We went through competition in design. In my last two years of high school competition I was on both District and State Landscape Design Championship team. I graduated with both high school diploma and two year vocational technical certificate in Horticulture. After high school I attended N.M.S.U. where I got my Bachelor in Science Degree in Agriculture. Thank you Eric and Carmela.

We recently moved to NM and the yard at our home was neglected for a few years. The backyard needed to be cleaned up (including removing a few bushes and an old clothesline), a new irrigation system installed, and beds prepared for a variety of plants I want to install. Eric and his crew from Summersweet were excellent! I interviewed several landscapers and only Eric listened to what I wanted, offered his expert advice (his knowledge was gained thru both formal education and practical experience), and delivered what we agreed to have done! The Summersweet crew was hardworking and professional - it helped that I speak some Spanish. Carmela pleasantly and professionally handles all the behind the scenes logistics. Everything was done professionally and on time.

We chose Summersweet because of the innovative design by the owner (Eric Jaramillo) and pricing comparable to other bids. Eric made a few minor modifications based on our input but the plan was pretty much as he originally envisioned. He is experienced and knows what he is doing him. Trust him! We did and everything came out beautifully. His workers were polite, efficient, showed up when agreed and did a great job. We could not be more pleased and highly recommend Summersweet. We had 50% lawn 50% rock and plants. It came out beautiful they also took out a old railroad tie stairs to the upper deck and built a concrete staircase and deck which came out just great. We had a problem with the grass but Eric had are back and replaced the bad sections for us ( grass is not guaranteed). Over all we love are are new back yard.Thanks Eric and Carmela

Eric and his crew were very professional, and fast! Eric addressed all our concerns and was quick to respond to text messages and any missed calls. Being able to send pictures to Eric made communication much easier and faster when trying to describe something we wanted changed. They properly installed an irrigation system with a shutoff valve, pressure regulator, automatic valve, back-flow prevention valve, filter and plenty of flush out end caps. Our family is extremely thrilled with the landscaping and our kids are especially excited about their bike racetrack!

Eric and his team did an amazing job from start to finish. After a couple of meetings to understand our goals for our primarily dirt yard, SummerSweet designed and executed the project with a personal touch. If you appreciate doing business with a handshake and having access to a project manager, then I would recommend SummerSweet. All work was done to our expectations, and careful attention was paid to drainage and safety concerns with our yard.

Summersweet is by far the best Landscaping company I have ever worked with. Eric was the only landscaper we have ever worked with that was able to identify our drainage issue. He listened to our concerns and redesign part of yard to avoid anymore drainage damage brought on by the heavy rains. His workers were very professional and polite. I had a last minute concern and Eric had his team fix the issue on the spot without hesitation. We will certainly be using them again; you will be happy with this company.

We moved to Santa Fe from lush green northeast about a year ago. We looked at landscaping professionals on the net and found Summersweet, wanting to create a patch of green for our new house. Meeting Eric, we were struck by his certitude about the design of the garden and what would thrive in the Santa Fe climate. Eric's design of the garden and the execution of his concept was flawless. He created an oasis in the desert for us with flagstone courtyard and a water feature and a xeriscape in the backyard. Eric's crew were exemplary in implementing his ideation into a reality. I recently purchased a home in Albuquerque to eventually retire in. Although I reside in Utah at this time, when I retire I will be moving to Albuquerque. When I first bought my new home, the first thing that I needed was a good landscape as the property hadn’t had any real landscape care for quite some time. The first thing that I did was look for a landscape company. In trying to save money, I went with a company that I thought was a reputable company. I was wrong. I had been trying to do business from Utah as I am unable to leave as my job takes a great deal of my time. I paid a so called landscape company. I paid half up front. Only to find that the company just barely started the job and “Poof!!!” The company phone had been shut off and someone ended up with free money. In very deep frustration, I contacted Summersweet for help. I told them what had happened and was insured that my property would be well taken care of. As I am still in Utah I had not met Eric yet. I was amazed how Eric made me a part of the project. Not knowing what type of design I was looking for, Eric went and checked out my property and about a week later he emailed me a design for my property. The very next day Eric called me to get some feedback as to what I thought of the design. I was 100% amazed with Eric’s interest in the detail of the job. He had everything covered. It felt like Eric covered every single detail. Eric took the time to sent me pictures by text and email to show me that the job was being done. As I was still in Utah, I was very concerned that I could get taken again. Eric eased my mind. Along with Carmela. I didn’t pry but they might be married. They both kept in touch with me almost every single day. I was thoroughly impressed. Three weeks later I was finally able to go to my new home as I had a weekend free. Eric on his time off) met me at my home and unveiled the most amazing landscape job. I didn’t expect everything to be as beautiful as it was. Right down to the waterfall. I was totally happy with the job. It almost felt that Summersweet Landscapes had done such a great job that I didn’t feel as though I had been taken by a dishonest person. I now have a beautiful home with a landscape that I didn’t think I could ever have. What impressed me even more about both Eric and Carmela was the very next day, I went to the race for cancer, and who do I see? Both Eric and Carmela. They were there to support the race for cancer. After talking with Eric I found that he is a cancer survivor and donates both time and money to finding a cure. After talking with other individuals that day, I found that Summersweet Landscapes is very concerned about the community. I found that they donate both, time and money to the community. To me, Eric and Carmela of SummersweetLandscapes are wonderful people. They give to the community and to things like Cancer reasearch. And all I wanted was some grass laid in my front yard. We are thrilled with the completion of our yard. We hired Eric and SummerSweet Landscaping because he was the only degree horticulturist who owns a landscaping business that I could find in Albuquerque. We knew nothing about plants for NM, so we wanted an expert, and he is one. We walked the greenhouse together to select plants. It was a very good experience. His guys have been with him for many years. They are extremely knowledgeable about all aspects from irrigation to hardscapes. There are a lot of fly-by-night cheap guys in NM, but they won't be around to fix what breaks. You can find cheaper or more expensive, but you will get what you pay for. Eric has clients from years back and he also has the governor's mansion as a client. He will draw professional plans for you and your HOA at no additional cost, which few here will do.

Summer sweet landscaped our front yard from a plan that we had . Eric and crew were very accommodating changing out parts of the plan we wanted different. They were out working the job with in three weeks even with a couple weather delays. They did a great job. We have a dry river bed with bridge that crosses over it, a water feature in the court yard , and really great looking plants. Eric's crew was outstanding, they paid attention to all the details and made sure everything was done the right way.
