"The concrete driveway at my home was about 40 years old and had been breaking up for the last decade or so. I knew I had to replace it but I was concerned that doing so would damage the sewer and gas lines that run under the driveway. Then I noticed that Mountain Side was doing some of my neighbors drives so I spoke to them about my concerns. They assured me they could do the work without disturbing the underground utilities. They removed the old concrete WITHOUT using a jackhammer. Safer on the utilities and quieter. I then stress tested my sewer line by filling 2 bath tubs and started them draining them, at the same time I flushed 3 toilets and turned on every faucet in the house. No backup. They then put down some rebar (the old drive did not have rebar) and poured the new drive the next day. I now have a new attractive driveway that my granddaughters can use as a canvas for their chalk art. COST: I checked several other contractors and Mountain Side was on the low side of the average. WORKMANSHIP: Excellent Practically a work of art. CREW: Professional and courteous. They knew what they were supposed to do and did it. NEATNESS: Excellent All construction debris was removed and landscaping on the side of the drive replaced neatly. OVERALL IMPRESSION: Very pleased with the outcome."

"Marius and his crew Jean and Rolando are best. They installed our landscaping precisely to our draw up design. They took their time and paid attention to very small details to ensure quality work. The water rock fountain exceeded expectations and we appreciated them getting to the job on time considering how many clients they have and their work schedule. They even put in a brick pad for our trash bins after the fact when we realized we needed it. Great craftsmanship fellows. Thank you."

Customers say: True professional

"The team was here when they said they would be and were always polite and professional and answered any questions that I had. The job took roughly four days to complete. After a few days I noticed a couple issue towards the end of the driveway so I contacted them and they came out to assess the issue and agreed they would address my concerns. I am very very pleased with the service and professionalism of this company. They made sure each day they left that my property was clean and tidy from their days work. This company is quite busy however it is well worth the wait to have them do your concrete work."

"We hired Aaron and team to replace a driveway, backyard, and subsequently additional work in the other backyard. We are having electrical work done, and they wanted a lot of money to dig a trench through the driveway and then repair it. For a little bit more, Aaron was able to replace all the concrete that was deteriorating and in really bad shape. He quoted me quickly, and had his crew out within days. The part that has been laid is beautiful and perfectly graded to drain properly. Aaron knows what he is doing! He is professional, communicates, on time, and the work is impeccable! The project has been delayed due to PNM and electrical contractors, and he's been so flexible - sending people out quickly when I need something and patiently waiting for MONTHS for the rest to finish what they were asked to do. Highly highly highly recommend!!!"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Homeowners in Albuquerque often balance initial investment against long-term durability. A key decision is asphalt thickness, as a 3-inch layer offers better longevity than a 2-inch one. Another trade-off involves creating a proper slope for monsoon runoff versus achieving a perfectly flat aesthetic. Choosing a polymer-modified asphalt improves performance in extreme temperatures but is a larger upfront investment compared to standard mixes.

Helpful?

Your Albuquerque home is ideal for asphalt paving if the ground is firm, the area drains efficiently, and there are no steep inclines. Asphalt resurfacing is especially effective for driveways that show surface wear but have a solid base. Homes exposed to plenty of sun and minimal standing water benefit most, as Albuquerque’s dry climate helps asphalt surfaces last longer with less frequent maintenance.

Helpful?

Combining asphalt paving in Albuquerque with upgrades like improved drainage, xeriscaping, or underground utility work can streamline your home improvement process. Coordinating these projects reduces disruption and may simplify permitting. It’s also a smart time to add features such as walkways, outdoor lighting, or retaining walls, creating a cohesive look and potentially making future asphalt repair or maintenance easier.

Helpful?

Poorly executed asphalt paving in Albuquerque often shows premature failure. If you see widespread alligator cracking or significant thermal cracks within just a few years, the initial job was likely flawed. A gray, brittle surface appearing in under four years indicates rapid oxidation from intense UV exposure and poor materials. Crumbling edges and persistent water pooling during monsoons also signal that a complete redo is necessary.

Helpful?

When hiring asphalt paving professionals in Albuquerque, prioritize contractors with experience in local soil and weather conditions. Ensure they carry proper insurance and bonding, and ask for references from recent projects in the area. Look for specialists who use high-quality materials designed for UV resistance and provide clear, written estimates. Comparing multiple quotes and understanding the scope of asphalt resurfacing or repair options will help you make an informed choice.
