"We had a fantastic experience with Sure Fix. We have actually never had a good experience with a contractor until we worked with them. They were professional and timely. If there were any small errors, they fixed them. We were extremely please with their work."

"I hired Anthony after my previous contractor was always cancelling on me and not showing up. It was refreshing to have a true pro come in with 40 years experience and solve all the problems that were left in my kitchen. Anthony also had great ideas and recommendations that helped in our decision making on completing our kitchen renovation. He was very fairly priced and gave us an itemized breakdown of the costs. I would highly recommend Anthony for any project big or small. He is in my contacts for future projects!!"

"TCW Builders has completed numerous jobs for us and they always exceed our expectations. Jobs have ranged from Door / Window replacement, finished Basement and rebuilding a huge multilevel Deck. There are so many positives about TCW that it's hard to choose what to write about. Some contractors will start the job and disappear. When TCW schedules your job they are committed to finishing it. They took extra time to insure that the design and materials are exactly what we wanted. Trevor even scheduled a separate meeting with the Deck Railing representative so that we knew every option of what was available and he installed it perfectly. We're already planning the next project for TCW Builders."

"I met with Mark once to review what I wanted in my new garage, doors/windows/electric, etc. The second meeting he had my plans with a virtual rendition. I made one or two minor changes and got my plans on my third visit. After I selected my contractor and the Town needed an additional calculation Mark turned it around in 24 hours and I was on my way to getting my building permit. The contractor didn't have any problems reviewing the plans. He felt everything was in order. I don't anticipate any problems with construction related to the plans. Mark was easy to work, he was thorough, he made suggestions. Mark turned all this around for me very quickly both times. Back in Jan/Feb when we first met and I got the plans, and then again in May when the Town required some additional information. No extra charge. Thanks, Mark!"

"Ronda came to us through our general contractor. She assisted us in selecting our cabinets, counter tops, hardware and tile. She met with us multiple times at our house to work through the cabinet design. And we met with her multiple times at her studio and the tile shop to select our counter top and tile. Always ready to help, she is knowledgeable and has innate design ability. More than that, she can explain her design choices, yet is willing to discuss alternatives and work through the design process in a collaborative manner, bringing many ideas to the table – or kitchen, as it were. She listens to her clients and was able to translate our ideas into a comprehensive design. Throughout the process Ronda worked with our contractor and with us to make certain everything came together as planned. While there were a number of minor snafus, she was always there to make certain issues were resolved and to keep the job moving ahead. Cabinets and counter tops are a significant portion of the remolding cost. Cabinet manufactures are not all that interested in dealing directly with the customer. Rather, they work through their distributors. We purchased our cabinets through Ronda who has a strong working relationship with the manufactures she deals with and can easily work out issues. Thank you Ronda for a wonderful new kitchen!"

"Outstanding work performed. Quote was very good, Dennis told me how the project would be managed and completed. As promised, they delivered on time and at budget. Furniture put pack in place and after checking closely a perfect job from start to finish. This is the third project they have completed for us, one was painting our outside fence. 3D Painting LLC is the only painting contractor we will use and provide references on."

"I can’t say enough good things about Alex. I found him on a home repair site to assemble my IKEA wall unit. He quoted a price so much less than others I thought he was too good to be true. When he came to do the job we talked about all the other jobs I had and he said he could handle them all. He even arranged for a painter as I was in need of having my whole house repainted. He took care of everything. He fixed a broken chair, applied grout around my tub, fixed and replaced my folding closet door and replaced my kitchen light fixture. He is my angel. He is polite, professional, and reliable. Whatever you need done call him first. If it’s not in his wheelhouse he’ll tell you. His prices are more than reasonable. At the time no one came even close to what he charged me. I promise you that you won’t be disappointed."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

The cost to install a bow window can range from $1,500 to $15,000, with a national average of $3,900. The total price includes materials, which can cost between $1,200 and over $14,000, and labor, which typically adds $300 to $1,900. Several factors influence the final cost, including the window's size and frame material. For example, vinyl frames are the most budget-friendly option, while wood frames are more expensive. Custom features or energy-efficient upgrades will also increase the price. For comparison, a bay window installation typically costs between $1,000 and $7,000.

When choosing a drywall anchor, consider the weight of the object you're hanging and how much weight the anchor will need to support. The heavier the weight, the stronger the anchor you'll need. You’ll find the weight capacity on the packaging when shopping for anchors.

Also, remember that you can use more than one anchor when hanging something on the wall. If you're using multiple anchors, divide the object weight by the number of anchors to determine how much each will need to support. If you need help deciding which drywall anchor to use, you can hire a handyperson to hang your objects.

Using a steel frame may raise the value of your home. Steel is more heat resistant, has better longevity, and doesn’t need any upkeep compared to traditional wood. You can also customize a steel build a little easier than other materials like brick, concrete, and vinyl—which have trouble bending and adapting to renovations.

Yes, a one-story house can have a load-bearing wall. The load-bearing walls in a single-story home are usually the exterior walls. If the house has a basement with exposed walls, the arrangement of the beams can help indicate what walls are load-bearing.

When deciding whether to use nails or screws for framing, the specific needs of the project must be taken into account. Nails have long been the go-to option for framing due to their affordability, ease of installation, and ability to withstand shear forces. They are perfect for structural framing projects where fast assembly is essential. In contrast, screws offer exceptional holding power and are particularly useful in situations requiring increased strength and resistance to pull-out forces. For projects that prioritize accuracy and long-lasting quality, screws may be the preferred option, though nails remain a dependable and efficient choice.
