"We asked a lot of Art & team with our flooring project which involved removing glue-down engineered hardwoods prior to replacing with porcelain tile. Because it was a big job, we expected the work to take about a week and a half. I must say that they showed up on time every day with a great attitude toward getting the job done right. They even finished a day earlier than estimated. We would certainly hire them again if we had any other areas to tile in our home."

"Gail always had our backs and best interest in mind, both financially and from a design perspective. We hired her for a backsplash install and are thrilled with the outcome. She is an excellent communicator, shows up on time, and is meticulous in her execution. She even set us up with a plumbing contact. Highly recommend her services and hope to work with her again in the future."

"They came the same day that we called. We had them install floor molding. The job was done in a few hours. It looks great. They were neat and cleaned up afterwards. The price was reasonable. They were very polite and professional."

Customers say: Quality work

"Marty is a great guy and his work is amazing. He took out all of our old shower and floor tile in our master bath and turned it into something updated and beautiful. I am beyond grateful for the work he did to help me turn my vision into reality. I would recommend him over and over to anyone needing tile work done."

"There is precious little they cannot do. It is very comforting to find someone who takes pride in their work is honest and who can do most anything. Seth requires very little oversight. Tell him what you need and get out of his way"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

A cement backer board is not needed for laying tile on concrete. Sometimes referred to as a cementitious backer unit, or CBU, backer board should be used if the subfloor is plywood or OSB. The backer board provides a base on which to install the tiles that isn’t as likely to be damaged by any accidental water seepage as natural materials would be.

It’s best to start with tiling the shower floor before moving on to the walls for the most visually-pleasing results. When taking on any tiling project, you’ll want the wall tiles to “sit” neatly on the floor tiles rather than overlapping them. Finishing your floor tiles first will allow you to place your wall tiles without any gaps, holes, or awkward intersections.

Removing old tiles can be more complicated, but it can also be more manageable, depending on your circumstances. Typically, old tile is hard to remove because the adhesive had loads of time to bond with your wall, becoming a formidable foe between you and your new tile installation project. On the other hand, old tile in high-traffic areas can become loose, making it much easier to remove.

When working on your bathroom floor tiling, you should always tile the floor first and then refit the toilet afterward. This has both practical and visual advantages—the tile will have a better seal, and the installation will look cleaner.

On the other hand, when you try to cut the tiles to fit around the toilet, you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage. It’s a lot more work, it’s hard to be precise, and mistakes or miscalculations can lead to future moisture damage to the tiling, grout, and subfloor.

Here’s another instance of where the answer is you could, but that doesn’t mean you should. Yes, part of the issue is getting the drywall to stay in place on the tiles, and it’s understandable that screws will crack the tiles and cause them to crumble. That’s why it’s a much better idea to screw drywall into studs, not your porcelain or ceramic tile. But aside from issues with attaching the drywall, it’s also about ensuring a smooth application without trapping moisture inside.
