"Chris and his team did an amazing job with installing tile flooring and backsplash in my kitchen. His workmanship is exceptional. He treated my home like it was his and that was greatly appreciated. I would hire him again and recommend him to family and friends. JUST EXCELLENT!!!"

"It went great. Every step of the way, the company was very responsive to our questions and requests. Maria and Chris have been really awesome to deal with. The crew came in and quickly and efficiently removed the old flooring and installed the planking. The job they did was highly satisfactory. They were actually recommended by a salesman from another company we are doing business with. The salesman had hired them to do several jobs for himself and his mother's home apparently and he was highly satisfied. I would definitely recommend them. We also have another job lined up already for them to install a backsplash for us and replace a broken tile in our kitchen floor."

Small jobs welcome

"The project was delivered and completed on time. The estimated and final cost were the same. We had granite countertops and tile backsplash installed. There was a problem with the new refrigerator fitting in the space when it was delivered and Marcos sent his crew at no extra cost to reduce the edge of the countertop for a perfect end result. This company is highly recommended. Great work, professional, and friendly crew. Hire them! Thank you, Marcos, Felipe, and Lucas, for my beautiful kitchen makeover!"

"We asked a lot of Art & team with our flooring project which involved removing glue-down engineered hardwoods prior to replacing with porcelain tile. Because it was a big job, we expected the work to take about a week and a half. I must say that they showed up on time every day with a great attitude toward getting the job done right. They even finished a day earlier than estimated. We would certainly hire them again if we had any other areas to tile in our home."

"We worked with Tartaglia Renovations in 2020 on a complete overhaul of a bathroom and improvements to another bathroom and half bath, so we knew they were trustworthy, a pleasure to interact with, flexible when complications arose and meticulous about details. This time, Matt Tartaglia spearheaded the project and Claudiu Culda put in long hours to make sure our kitchen floor turned out exactly as we wanted. The previous owners of our house had installed a tile floor in the kitchen and laundry room in the late 1990s. That floor was cold in the winter and difficult to clean, so we decided to replace it with hardwood that would go with the rest of the house. The last owners hadn’t taken up the original floor, which was linoleum from 1967 laid down over a subfloor on top of wooden boards. The heavy tiles had to be smashed with a sledgehammer and pried up. Then came the layer of Duroc that had bonded those to the linoleum, then the linoleum, then the subfloor, then the layer of boards under that, because some had suffered water damage long ago and had partly rotted. Claudiu stayed cheerful through all the craziness. He put in a fresh layer of thick plywood, followed by an insulating layer, followed by oak boards that he sanded, stained, varnished, buffed and varnished again. We wanted those to match the rest of the house, so we used one-and-one-half-inch boards instead of the three-inch wood often installed in kitchens. Naturally, it took twice as long to put in. When he and Matt realized the new floor was lower than the old one, and there were gaps between the hardwood and the bottom of our cabinets, they found a way to bridge those gaps with wood stained to match the floor. The room looks warmer and inviting and will actually be warmer underfoot in the winter. We are thrilled with the results."

Customers say: True professional

"My countertops look so much better and shine. I was very surprised that he would not do my backsplash due to the fact he thought it would crack (it is large tiles.) I have checked since and was told that they would not break. Also, he left a good inch or more on each side of my stove top that was not polished. I figured because I have a glass top stove he did not want to get near it. However, if he had called that to my attention we could have pulled the stove out for him to the sides. I am pretty disappointed with the finished job. For what I paid him I expected it to look new like he told me it would. He was only here a couple of hours. I have several friends that have noticed the places right away. I also have found a few places he missed. I called him and ask him about doing my wet bar counter top and he said it might be too small and I got the impression he was not interested. I also suggested that he tell his customers that there are places he will not sand and surely they make a smaller sander that would help with that problem. I can believe I am the only one that has had this problem. Do not know if I made him mad with my suggestions but I thought it was good advice. Like I said the countertops he sanded looks great and very good shine. But when you look at them and see the dull (also make it look two different colors) backsplash and a streak down each side of my stove it really does not look nice. There is a place next to my refrigerator that he missed. I would appreciate if you could help me with this and have him to come back. I read all the wonderful reviews he has gotten so I know he can do a better job for me. Thank you, J. Hair"

"The Bath Shop were amazing start to finish. They helped up pick tile and advised us through the design and the work being done. COVID took its toll on timing, but the communication from them was excellent. The guys working on the project were outstanding, very professional and friendly. They did an awesome job, handled every detail from design to inspections. I highly recommend these folks."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Like glass tiles, you will not need to seal most porcelain tiles, particularly if the porcelain is already glazed. It depends on quality. Porcelain is very water resistant, but it is not 100% waterproof. To avoid staining, some homeowners use a penetrating sealer. It is also a good idea to seal your grout. Unless you use epoxy grout, grout is very porous and can harbor bacteria, mold, and mildew.

The tile trim you use will depend on a few factors, including design preferences, budget, and whether the project is DIY or not. You might choose plastic trim if you want an easier DIY job that is more budget-friendly. There are also more color options available in plastic. On the other hand, you might choose metal to match your fixtures or for areas with heavy use.

On average, tiling a bathroom involves about 12 hours of labor, usually spread over two to three days to accommodate prep work and curing times. A professional tiler can often complete the installation in 6 to 8 hours, whereas a DIYer might take 10 to 16 hours. The total project time is influenced by factors like the bathroom layout, tile type, and necessary prep work, such as removing old tile. The process includes specific timelines for different areas; for example, tiling a floor takes about six hours, while a shower area can take six to ten hours. It is essential to allow for adequate curing time—typically 24 hours each—for the mortar, grout, and caulk, which is why the project extends over several days.

Installing kitchen countertop tiles on a mold and moisture-resistant cement backer board is one of the best options. When fitted correctly on top of a plywood base, it’s stable and long-lasting. Old-fashioned cement board is economical, cuts neatly and easily with a circular or jigsaw, and screws into plywood without any difficulty.

To maintain tile and grout, clean the surfaces regularly with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and wipe up spills promptly to prevent buildup. It is also important to reseal the grout every 1-2 years to maintain its durability.
