"Started out not to good. He had to rip up half of my kitchen wall to make level for backslash.Home Depot sold me half of tile with different color. Globus went to HD to solve the problem with tile. It took HD one more extra day to find out right material. But not only did He do everything to make me happy but exceeded my expectation. I will be referring my family and friends. The FactPass Contraction was professional and courteous about job explained to me step by step how job going to be done. He worked without a break all day. I was very happy with end product. "Gidawe Drywall was an incredible team! David and his crew did amazing work, finished ahead of schedule, even with the added work I asked them to do. They are reliable and extremely trustworthy. I was a customer that wasn’t able to be onsite with the team while they worked, I granted them access to my home while I was away and had absolutely no issues. They were very caring of our space, diligent to take care of their area and very thorough with clean up. After they completed the project I asked them to look at another possible project while they were there only because they were so professional and did such quality work. You can tell David and his team take pride in what they do, I highly recommend anyone to hire them for any job you need done!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

If you’re handling your tile removal yourself, seal the room using painter’s tape and heavy-duty contractor bags to prevent dust and shards from escaping. Use a claw hammer or a pry bar and a mallet to get behind the tile and pry it away from the floor or wall. Once your tiles are all removed, sweep everything into contractor bags for disposal, being careful not to overfill them. Make sure you wear a dust mask, safety goggles, and work gloves to keep yourself safe from injury while you work.

It’s best to start with tiling the shower floor before moving on to the walls for the most visually-pleasing results. When taking on any tiling project, you’ll want the wall tiles to “sit” neatly on the floor tiles rather than overlapping them. Finishing your floor tiles first will allow you to place your wall tiles without any gaps, holes, or awkward intersections.

No, when done correctly, removing the tile shouldn’t damage the subfloor. However, if there was pre-existing damage to the subfloor from standard use or lack of maintenance, the subfloor may need repairs. For example, if the contractors notice mold growth on the subfloor or an uneven surface, you may need more extensive services before installing new tile.

If you DIY tile removal, remove the tiles one step at a time, individually removing the tile, grout, and mortar to prevent unnecessarily damaging the subfloor. Depending on the age of your home, consider having a professional inspect the subfloor to ensure it’s in good enough condition to lay new tile.

Yes, it’s possible to cut tile without a wet saw; instead, you can use an angle grinder, a glass cutter, a snap cutter, tile nippers, or a rotary tool with a tile-cutting blade. A manual tile cutter or snap cutter works well for the larger tiles that wet saws are typically used for, while smaller projects might just require nippers or a glass cutting wheel. If you’re working with large quantities of tile, however, power tools are best.

Natural stone floors, especially pebble-style tiling, are one of the least slippery options for a shower floor. Natural stone has a texture to reduce slickness, and pebble-shaped tiles add more visual and textural contrast while reducing slippage. Vinyl tiles are also designed with anti-slip texture for added safety. If you have a slippery tile, be sure to add a grippy shower mat to reduce the risk of falls.
