"Sergii was very professional, flexible, communicated well, and was able to pull off my vision for a black marble fireplace without cracking a single piece of tile. He was also able to see and fix problems from previous renovated areas of the project so that installation would be safe and last. He was very upfront about cost and let me know about the price of materials before starting his work. And he kept his work area very CLEAN!! I was overall very impressed with his expertise, Iâ d recommend him to anyone."

"Very responsive customer service. They called within minutes of my Home Advisor request. They quickly arranged to meet to determine my project scope (new kitchen backsplash). They provided a quote at the project scope meeting. I called later to confirm them as my choice and we set up a date, and I paid 1/2 total price. They left a voicemail with the start time the night before the scheduled project start date. A crew of one arrived on time on the start date. He finished the tile backsplash that day, but needed to come back the next to grout. Grout was finished the next day. A supervisor came by in two-three days to inspect the work and get our feedback. He did some minor caulking cleanup and I paid the remainder of the bill. All of the employees were courteous, friendly, and timely. No drama. They arranged the project around my schedule. They met me when I was available. I totally recommend Footprints Floors."

"Needed fencing installed to keep groundhogs from taking up residence under our deck. Brady came up with a creative and complete solution that made sure the varmints were out and would not return. Would use again."

"J&C Hardscapes LLC did a fantastic job. Angi Gave me three references. A large company failed to respond. J&C Spent their time ministering what needed to be done. I had another company to come out. They gave me a price on the spot, I did not feel comfortable with their estimation. JNC took their time measuring and got back with me in two days. Their price was higher than the other company. I felt more comfortable with J&C Hardscapes. Carlos and his company did an excellent job installing the retaining wall. Once the wall was completed, it was perfectly constructed. One of their employees took pictures of his work because he was proud of it, To me that says it all. I would highly recommend J&C Hardscapes to anyone interested."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

If you’re looking for a durable tile for a shower floor, consider porcelain, stone, or vinyl tiles. Each of these options, when installed correctly, will stand up well to everything from water and moisture to the impact from a dropped bottle of body wash. These materials are also easy to clean and maintain, making them popular options for shower floors.

Yes, it would be best if you waterproofed your shower walls before tiling. The cement backing board behind the tile is not waterproof; it’s only water-resistant. On top of your tile backing board, be sure to use a waterproof shower membrane before you start installing your shower tiles.

Glass tile can cost as much as or more than other durable tile types. When choosing the right tile for you, knowing the advantages and disadvantages of each can help you make an informed decision. The pros and cons of glass tile include:

Pros

  • Light-reflecting to add brightness

  • Waterproof and mold-resistant

  • Made from recyclable materials

Cons

  • High cost compared to similar and more durable materials

  • Usually requires professional installation

  • More easily scratched compared to materials like ceramic and porcelain

Yes, it’s possible to cut tile without a wet saw; instead, you can use an angle grinder, a glass cutter, a snap cutter, tile nippers, or a rotary tool with a tile-cutting blade. A manual tile cutter or snap cutter works well for the larger tiles that wet saws are typically used for, while smaller projects might just require nippers or a glass cutting wheel. If you’re working with large quantities of tile, however, power tools are best.

It’s best to start with tiling the shower floor before moving on to the walls for the most visually-pleasing results. When taking on any tiling project, you’ll want the wall tiles to “sit” neatly on the floor tiles rather than overlapping them. Finishing your floor tiles first will allow you to place your wall tiles without any gaps, holes, or awkward intersections.
