"Oscar put in a ceiling box light in my guest bathroom over my tub/ shower, when the shower curtain was closed before, there was much light inside, curtain was blocking light's from my vanity...but now Oscar fixed that for me, I have a bright LED light overhead of my tub/ shower! I am very thrilled to have this and Oscar and his helper did a great job, very professional, friendly, reasonably priced and cleaned up inside the tub and surroundings of any debri that came from their working. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Oscar Aviles Electric LLC for any electrical jobs, I have already discussed with him about doing another small job next week, putting in a LED light in the ceiling of my pantry. And in the future I will have him to come back again to put in more box ceiling lights in my kitchen ceiling to replace a ceiling fixture. I have uploaded a picture from his work today! Thank You and your helper Oscar!! Sharon Carroll Archdale, N.C."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In High Point, address electrical issues immediately if you notice persistent burning smells, sparks, or water near outlets—these are urgent safety risks. Projects like adding circuits for new appliances or upgrading lighting can be scheduled for later. If your panel is outdated or you experience frequent breaker trips, plan to resolve these within a few months to prevent bigger issues, especially before storm season.

Helpful?

Overusing power strips, plugging high-wattage appliances into the same outlet, and ignoring tripped breakers can strain your High Point home’s wiring. Letting dust or moisture accumulate around outlets, skipping routine panel checks, and blocking ventilation for electrical panels also contribute to early wear. Delaying repairs on flickering fixtures or loose outlets can escalate minor issues into larger, more costly electrical problems.

Helpful?

If your High Point home has an outdated electrical panel, two-prong outlets, or lacks dedicated circuits for major appliances, it’s likely due for upgrades. Frequent use of extension cords, absence of GFCI protection in wet areas, or visible wear on wiring are also signs. Homes in older High Point neighborhoods often benefit from updated wiring to support modern technology and improve overall safety.

Helpful?

In High Point, small issues like outlets that feel warm, buzzing sounds from switches, or minor corrosion on panel covers can signal bigger problems ahead. If you notice circuit breakers tripping more often or lights dimming when appliances run, these are early warnings. Addressing these signs promptly can help prevent widespread electrical failures or costly repairs down the line.

Helpful?

In High Point, using weather-resistant wiring and proper surge protection is key for lasting electrical work, especially with local humidity and storms. Ensuring all connections are tightly secured and circuits are balanced helps prevent overloads. Regularly scheduled inspections, adherence to local permit requirements, and timely replacement of worn components—like outlets or breakers—will extend the life and reliability of your home’s electrical system.
