"From the very first phone contact until the new service panel and generator back-up switch were installed, Patrick and his crew did everything that they said they would do. My project was quite unique. Patrick took everything we talked about and put together a project plan and pricing. People showed up when they were scheduled. Project completed on time and at the price he quoted. The service Storm Electric provided rates as one of the best service experiences I have received. GREAT JOB PATRICK!"

"The owner communicated with me quickly and sent two techs out to install my ring video doorbell and I’m happy with the work. I will hire them again soon to install a ceiling light fixture and some cafe patio lights."

"I had them replace an old chandelier. The installation went well. I caution others that their job quoting can be improved. The quote they provided was for 1.5 hours of labor. Based on other quotes, I knew the installation should take about 1 hour. The installation took 1 hour. However, I got charged 1 hour for 3 workers."

"Great to work with from the initial quote to the final part of the installation of our generator. Arrived on time and finished ahead of time. They provided good insight into the workings of a generator and good ideas as to placement, size, etc. This was simply a great experience and I would highly recommend Southern Accents for any electrical needs."

"I had 2 projects for him to complete. He was unable to hard wire a ceiling fan as I originally asked about, but did install a new remote control that works good. He charged $160 which I feel was a little pricey since I purchased the remote control component, but it works. The second project was to install an outside motion sensor light on the front of my house - replacing a static, switch operated light. The first project was completed on December 19th and he said he would be back the following week, which was Christmas week. Then New Years Day holiday week came and went and he had still not contacted me about coming back to complete the work. I texted him on January 15th to see when he was going to return. He said he has been "tied up on emergencies". I can understand that, but I am getting the impression that I am small potatoes compared to other opportunities he has available. Today, 1/21/18 and he has still not contacted me to come back and do the work. I will be looking for someone else to do the work."

"Great service! Our technician even did a free inspection of our home to make sure there weren't any other issues. He explained things in a clear concise manner and was super friendly and professional."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

Generator installations in High Point require monthly visual checks for leaks or debris, regular test runs, and battery inspections. Before storm season, ensure the emergency power system’s air and oil filters are clean and fuel is fresh. Annual professional servicing and load testing are essential. Keep the area clear of overgrown vegetation and document all maintenance for warranty purposes and reliable backup power during outages.

Helpful?

In High Point, homeowners often overlook the need for proper drainage around the generator, leading to water damage. Placing a whole-home generator too close to windows or vents can violate local codes. Underestimating power needs or choosing a fuel source not readily available in the area are frequent errors. Hiring non-local contractors unfamiliar with High Point’s weather and zoning can also cause long-term issues.

Helpful?

In High Point, generator installation can be handled by several contractor types. Licensed electricians typically install standby and whole-home generators. Some HVAC companies offer integrated emergency power solutions. There are also generator installation specialists who focus solely on backup power systems. For best results, choose contractors familiar with High Point’s climate, local permitting, and who hold relevant certifications and insurance.

Helpful?

After a generator installation in High Point, arrange for a thorough system test, including the emergency power transfer switch. Confirm the generator is positioned above flood-prone areas and review the user manual for local weather considerations. Schedule routine maintenance, keep all installation paperwork, and monitor the first few cycles for any irregularities. Establish a relationship with a local technician for ongoing support and annual inspections.

Helpful?

In High Point, if your standby generator struggles to start during power outages, emits persistent odors, or displays error codes on its panel, these are red flags. Water pooling around the base after heavy rainfall, exposed wiring, or rust on the enclosure can also signal improper installation. If your generator vibrates excessively or fails to switch over automatically, it’s wise to have the work professionally reassessed.
