"Received three quotes to replace an exterior kitchen door. Loweâ s at $3k plus cost of door, HomeDepot $7500 plus door, and Cransten $600 plus cost of door. I purchased an off the shelf door for $450 and Cransten did a terrific job installing. Installer Bradley Evans provided excellent communication and a pro install job. I will hire Cransten again."

"In 2016, my husband & I were remodeling a rental house with an unsafe concrete front porch. We were at a loss as to how to fix it. I stumbled across Nick on HomeAdvisor. We were so impressed with how he repaired our front porch; we called him back to install two exterior doors. Since then, we have hired Nick to work on three more of our properties. He has installed new interior/exterior doors, rebuilt multiple decks, a front porch, an interior staircase, installed interior trim on all windows/doors for a 2-story farmhouse, installed two sets of sliding glass doors, rebuilt two exterior walls with termite damage, and remodeled two full bathrooms. Nick has an amazing ability to bring my “vision” to life. I also greatly appreciate his honesty. If my idea is not feasible, he will tell me and offer an alternative or tell me he can’t do it. I would much rather someone tell me up front if they if they cannot or don’t feel comfortable tackling a project than tell me they can and not"

"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’m extremely happy with the work completed. He handled several projects for me including hanging curtain rods and curtains, mounting multiple pieces of artwork, and making sure everything was aligned and evenly spaced. He came prepared, worked quickly without rushing, and left the area clean when he finished. Great communication, fair pricing, and excellent craftsmanship. Highly recommend!"

Doors questions, answered by experts

In High Point, address door service or entry door repair right away if you notice doors that don’t latch, show visible gaps, or have storm damage—these can compromise security and insulation, especially before summer heat or winter cold. If you see light under exterior doors or feel drafts, act quickly. Cosmetic updates or minor squeaks can wait, but prioritize anything impacting safety or energy efficiency.

Helpful?

High Point’s humid summers and sudden storms can cause wood doors to swell, warp, or develop sticking issues, while metal doors may rust. Frequent temperature swings can loosen weatherstripping and seals. Schedule door installation or repairs in spring or fall for best results, but be prepared for emergency fixes after heavy rain or wind events, which are common in NC’s climate.

Helpful?

For High Point families, choose lever handles for easier access, install childproof locks, and opt for soft-close or slow-closing hinges to prevent pinched fingers. If adding a pet door, ensure it’s secure against local wildlife and weather. Use non-toxic, mold-resistant finishes to withstand humidity. Consider adding motion-sensor lights near entry doors for added safety during storm-related outages or nighttime use.

Helpful?

In High Point, many historic homes have custom or oversized door frames, which can complicate door installation or replacement. Homes built on shifting clay soil may experience settling, causing doors to misalign or stick. If your house has undergone additions or has irregular entryways, precise measurements and custom solutions may be needed. Consulting a local door service professional can help avoid costly mistakes.

Helpful?

In High Point, doors that drag on uneven floors, have visible water stains on thresholds, or show daylight around frames often signal poor installation or weather damage. Warped frames, persistent drafts, or loose hardware are common in older homes or after severe storms. If you notice peeling finishes or increased noise from outside, it’s time to consider a professional door service evaluation or replacement.
