"They fixed a potential hazardous issue with my wiring, added a new plug in my garage, and balanced my electrical load, which fixed a lot of problems with fuses blowing and power dips. Excellent work, highly recommended!"

"Oscar put in a ceiling box light in my guest bathroom over my tub/ shower, when the shower curtain was closed before, there was much light inside, curtain was blocking light's from my vanity...but now Oscar fixed that for me, I have a bright LED light overhead of my tub/ shower! I am very thrilled to have this and Oscar and his helper did a great job, very professional, friendly, reasonably priced and cleaned up inside the tub and surroundings of any debri that came from their working. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Oscar Aviles Electric LLC for any electrical jobs, I have already discussed with him about doing another small job next week, putting in a LED light in the ceiling of my pantry. And in the future I will have him to come back again to put in more box ceiling lights in my kitchen ceiling to replace a ceiling fixture. I have uploaded a picture from his work today! Thank You and your helper Oscar!! Sharon Carroll Archdale, N.C."

"I needed a professional check and repair any electrical wiring issue in my laundry room and kitchen area. The problem was there was a leak in the roof on the wall where the panel is. I have had the roof replaced and now my dishwasher and cooktop was not working. The appliances are fairly new, (so) I flipped the breaker and that not work. I needed to make sure the wiring was ok before moving forward foe safety. There was a problem in the wiring and he had to get creative to get to repair the problem. The cost of fixing it was reasonable and I am very pleased with the tasks completed."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Daisy-chaining refers to placing multiple GFCI outlets in a row along the same circuit. This won’t do any harm, but it’s of limited usefulness because a properly-placed GFCI can monitor all downstream outlets on its own. Multiple GFCI installations won’t usually increase safety except in special cases.

If your thermostat does not have a C-wire, you can hire a professional to check for an abandoned C-wire hidden in the wall, install a new C-wire, repurpose an existing G-wire to function as a C-wire, or purchase a C-wire adapter kit.

There are some smart thermostat models that do not require a C-wire, but this will limit the functionality of the smart technology.

If you strictly adhere to electrical safety rules, including assuming that a circuit is hot until proven otherwise, and have some knowledge of how an electrical circuit works, you can likely replace a light switch by yourself without too much trouble. However, it's always advisable to call a nearby electrical pro to do the job if you're unsure of any steps necessary to change a light switch.

Before hiring an electrician, check out the contractor’s official website, read reviews, and look them up on your local Department of Labor’s website. If you’re hiring for a complex job, pay special attention to their level of expertise. Also, call up pros directly to ask about their insurance status, specifically liability insurance, and request customer references.

Dehumidifiers typically use 300 to 700 watts of electricity per hour, whereas portable dehumidifiers use about 40 watts per hour. The exact amount of electricity your dehumidifier will generate depends on its capacity and energy efficiency. Generally, higher-capacity dehumidifiers generate more electricity than lower-capacity units, but they also usually have better energy efficiency over the long run.
