"We bought a new house that had no landscaping in the front of the house and the grass was not doing well. Carolina Creations came in and completely redid our whole front landscape - new plants and grass. I love the plants Ricky chose. He is very knowledgeable about what will work and look good now and years down the road. They also installed a patio surrounded by a retaining wall in the back which we also really love!"

Customers say: True professional

"Douglas Trotter showed up early to check out the project and he was very warm and knowledgeable about the project he was going to do! He measured the area and said that he would get back to me with a quote on the job which he did. He showed up on time for the project and went to work. He completed the job on yesterday despite all the rain that we had. My wife and I are truly happy with the results of the project. We would recommend him to do another job!"

Small jobs welcome

"Darryl of Lane Pro and his crew did an excellent job removing old bushes and planting new ones in our back yard. He and his team were very punctual, efficient, and cleaned up the area after the job was completed. We would highly recommend them for any landscaping needs. John and Linda Bateson"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

There are some instances when you can use extra drywall in your garden. Ideally, unused scraps of new drywall are best for amending soil without the concern of additional chemicals or mold. However, drywall with paint, mold, or potential asbestos requires specialized disposal by a professional and should be kept out of your garden.

If you want to take your tree-planting hobby beyond your outdoor space, here are a few great ways to do it:

  • Encourage your neighbors to participate in the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA program, which has a four-step framework that helps communities grow and maintain their own tree cover.

  • Support businesses that plant trees.

  • Lobby your local government to plant more trees around your community.

  • Donate to a tree-planting charity.

Yes, it is possible to add too little mulch. Anything less than 1 inch will likely result in too little coverage around your plants, allowing weeds to grow through and minimizing the positive effects that a deeper bed of mulch would have, like maintaining proper soil moisture and insulating the ground.

It depends. Smaller, younger trees take longer to mature, but they're more resilient, their roots don't get as damaged during transplanting, and they recover faster. Plus, they're much more affordable to plant, and it's possible to DIY the planting.

On the other hand, mature trees produce fruit faster and provide more shade and privacy immediately. Ideally, a small or medium tree is the better choice if you can wait a few years for it to mature. But if you need immediate maturity, a larger tree is the only option.

A green home is one that focuses on conservation, with the goal often being net-zero carbon emissions and self-sustainability. It will often include some kind of self-generation equipment, like solar panels or a small wind turbine, high-efficiency electrical components and mechanicals, and high-quality insulation and air sealing to reduce the loss of conditioned air. Many green homes also include xeriscaping or rainwater collection to cut down on drainage and water consumption.
