"Air Quality Concepts did an excellent job.  We have a two story two unit HVAC system.  The previous owner was a smoker (legal and illegal smoking) so when we moved in we really had to scrub things down.  The AQ guys came in and did an excellent job, they were on time, clean, polite and another special concern of mine is how they treated my wife...she was very happy.  They were expensive but  in a previous house we had a different company that was cheaper but not nearly as good.  I would highly recommend the AQ guys.  Expensive but worth it.

"Affordable Heating and Air is by far one of the most responsive and reasonably priced HVAC contractors that I have dealt with. They were able to work me into their schedule less than 24 hours after I submitted my request and less than 4 hours after talking with someone from the company. They employees were very kind and quickly completed the job."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Your AC might not cool after a power outage because of a tripped circuit breaker, blown fuse, or damage to the compressor or capacitor. If you notice your AC not working after a power outage, in most cases, the breaker has tripped or the system has built-in brownout and blackout protection. Reboot the AC by turning it off at the thermostat, resetting the circuit breaker, and waiting 30 minutes to turn the AC on again.

NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certification is not legally required for HVAC technicians in most areas, but hiring a professional with this certification is highly recommended. NATE-certified technicians demonstrated their expertise and proficiency in different types of HVAC systems, offering assurance of quality service. It's a voluntary certification, yet it indicates a commitment to professionalism and ongoing training. Choosing a NATE-certified technician often means you're working with someone who is up-to-date on industry standards and best practices, which can lead to better service, energy efficiency, and long-term cost savings.

There are a few ways to determine if a vent is open or closed. You can inspect the vent and examine the position of the fins. If there are spaces between them, the vent is open. If the fins are flat and touching, the vent is closed. You can also stand under the vent when the system is running to see if you feel air flowing through it.

Because of the improved efficiency, ACs with higher SEER ratings tend to cool down your home better than models with a lower SEER. Higher-SEER AC units have a higher cooling capacity and a lower energy demand, meaning they may help cool your space faster without running up the electricity bill.

Whether an HVAC damper should be open or closed depends on the season, the zone it controls, and the temperature in that zone. In the summer, open upstairs dampers and close lower-level dampers to get the most efficient cooling possible. In the winter, do the opposite. Cool air will naturally flow down to lower levels, while warm air will rise. This keeps your system from working harder and helps prevent common AC problems.
