Most HVAC companies charge a flat service call fee of between $75 and $150, which includes traveling to your home and inspecting your system to find the underlying problem. Air conditioners can stop working in the middle of the night for many reasons. Your local power grid might shut down late at night. If your HVAC system's capacity doesn't match the required CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute), imbalances can occur. An undersized system struggles to maintain desired temperatures, leading to discomfort. An oversized system might short-cycle, wasting energy and causing temperature fluctuations. Properly matching capacity to CFM ensures efficient and consistent heating, cooling, and home ventilation system performance.
Choosing a unit with higher BTUs can use more electricity if the BTUs are more than what’s necessary for your room size. However, choosing an AC with BTUs that match the size of your room or house, your unit will cool your space efficiently. On the flip side, choosing a system with not enough BTUs can cause the system to work harder to try to cool the space, leading to more electricity consumption and higher energy bills.
