"Good work in general; our basement no longer sees water for over 3 years now, which is the most important thing. But there were some real issues: The biggest issue is that USW did not adhere to local electrical codes, and did not arrange for a final inspection of the project. So we didn't find out that it wasn't to code until years later, and now it's a big hassle and minor cost to fix and get the permits. Ask your local gov yourself what you need to do for permits and inspections; don't rely on USW! USW said they would seal any foundation cracks found along the way; they didn't do this until I bugged the warranty dept about it (but they did do it eventually). USW sent someone out for the "annual checkup"... over 2 years after the install. It's a good thing they (eventually) did, because they discovered the backup battery wasn't charging. Now I know to check this stuff better myself. Prices also vary wildly and are kind of negotiable (I'd give more detail but I'm out of space)"

"We engaged Laffey Concrete for our home addition project after soliciting quotes from four different concrete companies. We ultimately chose Laffey Concrete because Travis struck us as a genuinely friendly and trustworthy individual. Although their estimate was not the lowestâ  landing in the middle rangeâ  Travis's demeanor left a positive impression on us. The initial phase involved laying the foundation, which they completed satisfactorily and passed inspection. However, once the concrete cured, we noticed that one side was uneven. Travis explained that they had "forgotten the level," but they managed to rectify the issue using epoxy filler. Additionally, we discovered that one of the workers had stepped into the slurry coat multiple times before it had set, leaving unsightly shoe prints throughout the crawlspace. Moving on to the second phase, which included the patio and concrete steps, we placed our trust in Laffey Concrete's claimed "expertise." Unfortunately, we were met with disappointment. After the completion of the patio and steps, we quickly observed that the steps were uneven, poorly finished, and marred by pockmarks and indentations, with the corners left unrefined. After the first rainfall, we were dismayed to find water pooling on the patio right in front of the steps. When I sent a photo to express my concerns, Travis assured me that the water would dissipate and that the area would eventually drain, but it never improved. After following up, he finally agreed to come by and assess the situation. He acknowledged that the pitch was incorrect and promised to fix it, which required tearing out about a third of the patio to achieve the proper slope. I often wondered why this issue wasn't addressed from the outset. Both my wife and I reached out to Travis multiple times regarding the condition of the steps. His responses were sporadic, filled with excuses about delays and reasons for not addressing the issues promptly, yet the subpar quality of the steps remained unresolved. Since then, several other concrete companies have evaluated Laffey Concrete's work and expressed disbelief at the quality we received."

Welcome to Paramount Fence, Inc., your leading source for creating the perfect fencing environment for your home or business in the Chicagoland area. We are locally owned and operated and have been in business for almost 20 years. We understand that each client is unique and our fencing experts will work with you to ensure that you purchase a fence that satisfies your needs for years to come. With more than 100 years of combined experience, you can rest assured that your experience with us will be nothing short of first-class.

"I hired Paramount Fence to install a new vinyl fence and I couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. From the initial consultation to the finished product, everything was handled professionally and with great attention to detail. Laura, my sales representative, was fantastic. She explained all the ins and outs of the fencing options available and made sure I felt confident in my choices for our yard. She took multiple measurements and was able to alter the estimate after confirming local village code requirements. Her expertise and clear guidance made the selection process easy. Throughout the project, Paramount Fence impressed me with their excellent communication. They kept me updated and provided a day’s notice before installation. The crew arrived on time and worked efficiently, completing the entire 278-foot fence—including two gates—over just two days. The finished fence stands sturdy at 6 feet tall and looks fantastic. I highly recommend Paramount Fence!"

"AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Here is a list so you can read everything we’ve been through with this company. Spent over $11,000 in 2020 to have interior drain tile and a landing drain connected to a new sump pump Had water enter through the doorway by the drain 3 times since 2020, with the most water coming inside September of 2022 Called Safeguard in September 2022. Safeguard refused to even check the system, sent us a quote for $1,800 more work to “fix us up” without even checking anything on our property Had a 3rd party company out to inspect the drain that Safeguard refused to check. Discovered they breached our contract and connected the drain to village stormwater tiling without our consent or the consent of the village. Have never received as much as an apology. Instead, Safeguard blamed us saying the drain was clogged with leaves, and that is why we flooded. This was disproved by Roto-Rooter. Update as of 3/3/2023 AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Instead, Safeguard blamed us saying the drain was clogged with leaves, and that is why we flooded. This was disproved by Roto-Rooter. The company refused to fix anything and did not respond to requests until I submitted a formal complaint on the BBB website exposing the breach of contract Have spent months (5) trying to come to an agreement we are comfortable with in order to have them out to fix the work. They do say they will repair the work for free, BUT… They tried to get us to waive their liability should the village fine us for the stormwater connection. There will be NO WARRANTY of this free work. So, if the concrete starts breaking a few months after the fix, they’re not liable. They claim they did not connect the drain incorrectly, and they are doing this fix to appease us (even though I have my contact that clearly states what was to be done, and a signed letter from the president stating that they did in fact do something else). As a result, we asked for a simple 1 year work and materials warranty just to ease our fears about something breaking in the future. Their response- WE WILL NOT ALTER THIS CONTRACT. Bob, John and Karen have been nothing but awful to work with. They are argumentative at best. The amount of times sarcasm and ALL CAPS have been used in emails by Karen, as well as the amount of times my husband has been screamed at over the phone or in person by Bob and John are immeasurable. As soon as you write them a check and they finish the work, they’re done. Even if they blatantly breach your contract (like with us), or the work is faulty, I believe they will not fix or stand by anything. They claim they have one of the strongest warranties in the business- I assure you this is a lie. If they do work and it never breaks, consider yourself lucky, because if something goes wrong they will not help you in any way shape or form to solve the problem, in my opinion. Instead, they will blame you as the customer and ignore you until you become too loud to ignore. Do yourself a favor, spend a little bit more money and go somewhere else that actually backs up their work and treats their consumers well. This is not that place. RUN AWAY. We are a family-owned business (and former employees of Allied Concrete Repair), building on over 30 years of experience and reliable customer service. Our goal is to provide honest, cost effective foundation repair and water mitigation solutions to our customers by employing a holistic approach to diagnosing and solving concrete and foundation problems - problems which can present themselves at any time during the life of the concrete or foundation. We have a unique place in an otherwise crowded market because our approach brings water mitigation, structural repair, concrete construction and concrete repair knowledge and experience together to meet individual and specific needs. As a professional construction company, you can expect us to adhere to and utilize our industry’s processes and procedures, including compliance with municipal building codes and American Concrete Institute (ACI) standards. At least one of our partners is present, from start to finish, on every job so you may be assured of the quality of the work performed. Because of our lengthy and diverse experience in this field, we are particularly well qualified to not only assess the situation accurately and perform the necessary repairs competently, but refer you to other specialists if and when necessary. We stand behind our work and our warranties are easily transferred.

Concrete Resurfacing questions, answered by experts

While you don’t technically need to grind concrete before resurfacing, it is very helpful. Grinding creates a rough, porous surface on the concrete, which gives the resurfacing material something to latch onto. Grinding your concrete before resurfacing can ensure that your resurfacing material lasts longer, reducing additional concrete resurfacing costs down the line.

For thin driveway cracks that aren’t widening or lengthening, a polyurethane crack filler is usually the best way to seal the crack and prevent further damage from water and ice. If you have cracks that are more than ⅛-inch wide or driveway cracks that continue to grow, you should call in a professional driveway repair company to fix underlying problems—like insufficient support from the soil underneath—before filling in the cracks. An epoxy sealant is a better option for wider cracks after the surface is leveled and the underlying problem is fixed.

Stamped concrete overlays last about 25 years when properly installed and cared for. Installing an overlay on top of structurally sound concrete helps ensure it reaches its full lifespan. A local stamped concrete pro should finish and seal the concrete upon installation, and you should reseal the overlay every three to five years. Stamped concrete overlays are durable, long-lasting, and a beautiful way to refresh a space.

Resurfaced concrete can last anywhere from eight to 15 years on average. Just how long your resurface concrete driveway lasts depends on how often you seal the concrete, the amount of traffic, how well the concrete resurfacer was applied, and even the soil quality. Poor soil that led to premature cracks in your existing concrete can quickly lead to even more cracks and problems if you don’t fix the root cause of the cracked concrete.

Cracks, spalling, uneven surfaces, and weather damage often necessitate professional repair or resurfacing.
