Good work in general; our basement no longer sees water for over 3 years now, which is the most important thing. But there were some real issues: The biggest issue is that USW did not adhere to local electrical codes, and did not arrange for a final inspection of the project. So we didn't find out that it wasn't to code until years later, and now it's a big hassle and minor cost to fix and get the permits. Ask your local gov yourself what you need to do for permits and inspections; don't rely on USW! USW said they would seal any foundation cracks found along the way; they didn't do this until I bugged the warranty dept about it (but they did do it eventually). USW sent someone out for the "annual checkup"... over 2 years after the install. It's a good thing they (eventually) did, because they discovered the backup battery wasn't charging. Now I know to check this stuff better myself. Prices also vary wildly and are kind of negotiable (I'd give more detail but I'm out of space)

US waterproofing came to my house 2 hours before the appointment was scheduled for what was supposed to be a routine estimate. The US waterproof employee was here for over FOUR HOURS inside my house, where I work. The employee insisted on writing up contracts and signing papers immediately while I was at my desk in the middle of meetings. I signed the contracts under duress and charged a "SMALL DEPOSIT" of $400. My pregnant girlfriend (who works nights as a nurse) was also woken up and kept awake the entire time the employee was here. I attempted to get a refund claiming that I felt forced to sign the contact since it was affecting my work and family. I would recommend that no one use this service or company.

Called company on Monday and got an appointment for an inspection on Wednesday. That following Monday, the technician arrived and went through each step is sealing off the concrete foundation to the water leak. The fix worked well and was put to the test with the recent record rains. Not one drop of water came into the basement.

My sump pump goes off all the time; I think there is a natural spring around my house. Joe Silverberg, my local U.S. Waterproofing rep., has been wonderful in advising me on my sump pump replacement, (which works beautifully by the way and gives me so much peace of mind!), and on sealing cracks in my basement walls. Whenever I have needed him, Joe comes over right away to address the situation. I highly recommend Joe and U.S. Waterproofing, who does excellent work and stands by that work!

They're unconscionable and will keep your money even if they don't do the job. I had signed with them and put down a $4400 deposit. There was slowdowns and delays from the beginning. When they said they filed for the permit they hadn't. I kept getting the runaround on when that would be done, so the work didn't get delayed even further. Finally, when it just was becoming apparent they weren't the one to do this project I told them and then kept getting evaded and forwarded to someone else to avoid giving me my deposit back. THEN, they file for the permit after I had told them via v/m, text, and email to not file a permit. Finally, when got on the phone with the sales manager, he was rude, interrupting and said he doesn't care that they didn't do any work -- he's keeping the money. No honest business would keep your deposit when they've done no work, and was not impacted in any negative way. I wasn't surprised they might be at the high end of the price structure but they markup is remarkably high -- way higher than competitors of same size. (There's a word for that practice.)

US WATERPROOFING LITANY (USWP) 1. Signed contract on October 21, 2019 to have USWP move the sump pump discharge pipe from the exterior of the house to the stack allegedly required by Chicago Building Code. The initial drawing shows the rerouted pipe running under an existing window. USWP also gave me a list of plumbers who could put a Y connector into the stack for the rerouted discharge pipe connection. 2. On 10/25/19 a plumber installed the Y connector fairly high on the stack. He said the new connecting pipe could not run below the windows due to the close proximity to the foundation. I called USWP to set up an appointment for them to finish the job. I told them the pipe has to run along the ceiling, not under the window. 3. USWP came out on 10/31 to finish the job. However, the man who arrived had no idea that the new pipe had to be attached to the ceiling. He did not have the correct parts and could not figure out how to screw a connector/strap into the ceiling. (Even though there are a lot of other things screwed in.) 4. I did not hear from USWP until mid-November. Two workers came out on November 20. They did not have the correct straps. They left. 5. On December 10, I had a carpenter friend of mine mark the places on the basement ceiling where the pipe could be hung. 6. On December 31, USWP workers came out with no parts. I told them to cancel the job. That finally got their attention. Someone from the office finally got the message. They scheduled a worker for January 2. 7. On January 2, USWP finally finished the job. My opinion is that this entire job should have been done by a plumber instead of having to deal with 2 contractors. The plumber could have done the entire job in one visit. This would be more efficient for all concerned. Lastly, clearly the sales person drew the picture incorrectly to start with. Then the plumber and USWP didn’t talk to each other. Most importantly, the workers and the schedulers and the people that answer the phones do not communicate with each other. I have no idea how many times I told them that the pipe had to run along the ceiling but none of the actual workers knew this and were not provided with the correct parts.

We highly recommend US Waterproofing. Unfortunately, after repeated issues (we’ve had water getting through a basement door, water backing up from drain/sewer pipe, foundation cracks – all which were addressed) we now have had issues with hydrostatic water pressure delivering a great deal of water to our finished basement. Only one solution – drain tiles and sump pump installation. US Waterproofing was outstanding, every step of the way. They communicated clearly what was needed, and much to our surprise, what was not. They did not ever try to sell us anything that was not needed – only what was – installation of drain tile, window well drains, sump pump, and all work related. All of the crews involved were outstanding – in particular, the crews installing the drain tile and sump pump. The supervisor clearly and concisely explained every step – and when issues arose, they were dealt with promptly. The teams removing drywall and reinstalling also did very good work, and were very responsive. Everything was done correctly, and on schedule The work is now complete – and the basement is back to normal. I commend USW on all facets – they explained everything, did not try to oversell anything, and were responsive to issues as they arose. All the way around – sales, customer support, install teams – outstanding. If you have an issue with water in your home, please consider US Waterproofing.

It is with difficulty that I write this review. I highly value the reviews on Angies List and feel it my responsibility to report on this project. U. S. Waterproofing did a repair job for leaks in my basement. The project did not go as expected. Original estimator misquoted drywall removal and replacement. Quote said “20”. When crew showed up for demo, they expected 20 square feet. It was 20 linear feet, about 7 feet tall. Crew was professional and did the demo, even though it made them late for next appointment. As with all U.S. Waterproofing staff I dealt with, nice and courteous. Problem was that they left trim with exposed nails sticking up in my finished basement. It may not have looked finished to them, as I covered living areas up. They also exposed a hidden area well that had been covered up. No follow-up to their office. No call back from office, after they left. Crews came in to fill cracks, including extra money for the new crack that was covered. Subsequent heavy rain burst the window in the newly uncovered area well. Water poured into basement, when my wife was home alone. When I called for help, switchboard said it would take 1-2 weeks to schedule in. When I stubbornly called back, a manager named Jon accidentally picked up phone before going home. He was nice and understood, scheduled after work for both of us following week. Jon recommended solution and we also diagnosed another source of leeks. New quote more work. Many crews came in and out for this company for project that took months. All professional, none coordinated. Original estimator AWOL. In the end final drywall coverup was not entirely finished and crew left drywall mud spots on what they thought was unfinished floor. It’s actually my painted concrete finished floor. Heavy rain after drywall up and again a leak. After all that. Customer service rep. Bob called, when I left a less than favorable review on their website. I really don’t have the heart or energy to revisit the above again with him. I would have been happy to pay double the original quote, if this company had been more accountable for the job and if the original estimator had truly acted as a project manager to coordinate schedule and crews and returned calls. Reality is that I was at the mercy of a call center and multiple crews that did not seem to communicate with each other. Everyone that I interacted with in this company seemed skilled, professional and courteous. I'm hoping that this job just went badly (an outlier), as company has a good reputation. Fundamental problem is their business model that didn't assign a project manager to come with crews and coordinate when mishaps occurred.

Crawlspace was done well and when I found an issue they came back and fixed it right away. Price was in the ball park with other companies. However, we had an exterior foundation leak repaired as well, and they installed a mesh to prevent water from leaking in. 8 months later when water is now leaking in and around their "fix" they won't repair under warranty because "weather conditions are beyond our control". DO NOT USE THEM FOR ANY OUTDOOR SERVICES.

My existing window well had pulled back from the homes foundation over the past 20 years, allowing water and sediment to enter the well. Sediment would plug the drain causing water to build up and create an aquarium in the window well. You pass waterproofing installed a new window well and securely fastened it to the cement foundation. They carefully removed the previous window well and took care not to brutalize the surrounding landscape. Completely satisfied with their work

Crew arrived on time and worked efficiently. As the project progressed, 2 foundation cracks were discovered which added $900 to the original estimate. Old insulation along foundation wall was removed and replaced with silvery foam sheets. Joints were taped. Some leveling of the floor was done. Sheets were laid over the gravel floor also (crawlspace is not used for storage). 2 window well covers were installed. Our main goal was to have a warmer floor in the room above. We haven't noticed a major improvement yet.

It has been a year since we had the drain tile installed in my mother-in-law’s house. Her home is almost a hundred years old, and she is in an area that is prone to flooding. Prior to the work being done she was getting water even during moderate rain-fall, and there was a persistently musty smell in the basement. Just after installation we had the wettest spring, summer, and fall on record. She had not a single drop of water in the basement! We are very pleased with the work, the professionalism of the salesperson, and the workers who came and installed. The price was a little higher than some of the other estimates, but lower than others. It was worth it to us to have the job done right...and it was.

When your basement floods it is a very stressful time and I am so grateful that the first phone call I made was to US Waterproofing. Jose came out right away and quickly diagnosed what happened (Sump Pump failure) and then took me through all the options -- Good, Better, Best to fix it. I ended up going with the Better option. They scheduled the work quickly and I was very happy with the professionalism of the 3 installation people that came out led by Mauricio who installed a new sump pump and a battery backup sump pump so that I have insurance in case the main sump pump fails or there is a power issue. Could not be more satisfied with US Waterproofing. I highly recommend them!

It went terrible. Just pumped an inch and a half of water out of the basement they waterproofed. The fine print said they just had to get the water to a sump hole. I didn’t know that I hadn’t contracted to have the water diverted from the sump hole to outside the house. They got me on that one. My bad. Don’t hire these people. Choose someone else and go over the fine details before hiring anyone. These people are hucksters.

They did the work ok, one crack still leaking and tried numerous times calling for service to come back and rework the crack but the warranty department keeps hanging up when I tell them the trouble I'm having. Talked to Jose Magana (salesman) numerous times, left messages, said he would call back--never did , I had to call him back three or four times only to finally have warranty department call me back and hang up or get disconnected with no call back. I called them again a couple times with same result --hangup or disconnect. Once they have your money they no longer care about your issues. Terrible!

We had US Waterproofing seal several basement cracks. The salesman was very professional and the men who did the crack filling were prompt and efficient. This was only completed 10 days ago, so at this point it is unknown how effective it is, until after we have lots of rain.
