Laffey Concrete, LLC

We engaged Laffey Concrete for our home addition project after soliciting quotes from four different concrete companies. We ultimately chose Laffey Concrete because Travis struck us as a genuinely friendly and trustworthy individual. Although their estimate was not the lowestâ  landing in the middle rangeâ  Travis's demeanor left a positive impression on us. The initial phase involved laying the foundation, which they completed satisfactorily and passed inspection. However, once the concrete cured, we noticed that one side was uneven. Travis explained that they had "forgotten the level," but they managed to rectify the issue using epoxy filler. Additionally, we discovered that one of the workers had stepped into the slurry coat multiple times before it had set, leaving unsightly shoe prints throughout the crawlspace. Moving on to the second phase, which included the patio and concrete steps, we placed our trust in Laffey Concrete's claimed "expertise." Unfortunately, we were met with disappointment. After the completion of the patio and steps, we quickly observed that the steps were uneven, poorly finished, and marred by pockmarks and indentations, with the corners left unrefined. After the first rainfall, we were dismayed to find water pooling on the patio right in front of the steps. When I sent a photo to express my concerns, Travis assured me that the water would dissipate and that the area would eventually drain, but it never improved. After following up, he finally agreed to come by and assess the situation. He acknowledged that the pitch was incorrect and promised to fix it, which required tearing out about a third of the patio to achieve the proper slope. I often wondered why this issue wasn't addressed from the outset. Both my wife and I reached out to Travis multiple times regarding the condition of the steps. His responses were sporadic, filled with excuses about delays and reasons for not addressing the issues promptly, yet the subpar quality of the steps remained unresolved. Since then, several other concrete companies have evaluated Laffey Concrete's work and expressed disbelief at the quality we received.

We recently had the pleasure of working with Laffey Concrete for our new patio, and we couldn't be happier with the results! From start to finish, the entire experience was outstanding. First and foremost, the team at Laffey Concrete was incredibly professional. They took the time to understand our vision and offered valuable suggestions that enhanced our original ideas. We contracted Travis Laffey with Laffey Concrete in February 2021 to begin a large patio, steps & sidewalk project in our home in the Spring of 2021. It started well. We got 3 quotes and they were middle of the road on pricing and we did our due diligence and checked reviewsâ ¦nothing amiss here. They came in and completed the job over a 3-4 week period (note: City of Joliet needed to inspect and that took about 2 weeks). All looked good until the FIRST winter of 2021/2022. We sent Travis pictures of the significant and numerous cracks that appeared in all areas of the patio and steps. He came out in the Spring and confirmed this was not right and under the 1 year warranty on his work he would â make it rightâ . This required ripping up the patio & steps, hauling away the debris & starting again. We know spring is busy in his field, so gave the OK to wait until June or July. This is where the â promisesâ all fell apart. He kept pushing us offâ ¦.gravel pit strike=no concrete (soon rectified strike), so June went by, July went by and then by the beginning of August he simply stopped replying to emails or returning phone calls from either my husband or I. He wouldnâ t answer his phone. We received a quote from another concrete contractor for 8K to tear out & redo the affected area. We never heard from him again. HIS WARRANTY IS WORTHLESS & BE VERY CONCERNED THAT HIS â WORDâ MEANS NOTHING!! I had a friend contact him about getting a quote & he replied back the SAME day & could come out that weekend to give them a quote. He hadnâ t gone anywhere, but was unprofessional and wouldnâ t commit to rectifying the problem and making it right. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Donâ t be caught up in his personable demeanor. His word means nothing & his work is shoddy at best.

We hired Laffey Concrete to do work on our home addition. We had requested quotes from 4 different concrete companies and chose Laffey Concrete because Travis seemed like a very friendly and honest guy. Laffey Concrete was not the lowest estimate received - they were in the middle, but Travis impressed us. The first phase of the project was the foundation. They seemed to do this as expected and passed inspection. We discovered after the concrete set that the one side was not level. Travis said that they â forgot the levelâ , but they were able to repair the wall with some epoxy filler. We also realized after pouring the slurry coat for the crawlspace, that one of the workers stepped in the concrete numerous times before it had cured. We were left with a crawlspace with multiple shoe prints across the area. The second phase was the patio and concrete steps. We trusted Laffey Concrete's "expertise" but were once left with a mess. After the patio and steps were complete, we immediately noticed that the steps were not level, were not finished evenly, had pock marks and indentions on the steps and the corners were never finished. After the first rain, all the water was pooling on the patio right in front of the steps! When I texted a photo and to complain, he said it would dissipate and that area would be slow to drain. It never got better. I reached back again. He finally replied and said he would swing by and look. He told us that the pitch was bad and that they would fix it. They had to tear out about 1/3 of the patio and replace it with the proper pitch. I've always wondered why this would not have been done the first time. My wife and I both reached out to Travis numerous times over the condition of the steps. He replied on and off - giving reasons as to when they would come, why they couldn't get to it right away - many excuses - and never fixing the poor quality of steps that they gave us. I've had a few concrete companies come back since looking at the work Laffey Concrete did, and they could not believe the poor quality of the patio and steps. They said it was â terrible workmanshipâ by someone who did not know what they were doing â or did not care. We paid them $1500 for the steps and stoop and have been informed that the only way to fix them is to tear them out and start over. Travis has since stopped replying to our text messages. At first, we thought that maybe something happened, but after 5 attempts over 4 weeks, we realized he was ignoring us. This is only confirmed after reading Brandon Millerâ s review â who seems to have a very similar experience to what we have. Iâ ve also read Angie Tâ s review on BBB website so he has shared the poor quality of work among other suckers. Try inviting Travis to review the work and request it gets fixed. My wife insisted on doing this and reached out to him. I was against it as I felt he was not trustworthy at all. Upon her request, he finally stopped by. He said he found nothing wrong with the patio and steps. He said it is the quality that is expected when humans do the work! He then started screaming at her - swearing and cussing as he stormed off and drove away. If thereâ s anything Travis is good at â itâ s being a complete jerk with no sense of how to treat a woman, let alone anybody else. Once I heard of his reply, I immediately sent him a scathing text message telling him how low it was for him to treat my wife in this manner. I would not recommend Laffey Concrete â EVER, FOR ANYTHING!. We spent over $14,000 on foundation work, patio and steps. We got screwed. Travis and Laffey Concrete are unprofessional, incompetent, and a VERY dishonest business and business owner. If you want quality concrete work, reliable communication and follow-thru â look for another concrete company â Travis and his crew at Laffey Concrete ARE NOT the people you wan...

Horrible work, stained my siding and cracks on entire patio. Seems done horribly. They don't answer text messages. Said he would come to see it,and has not made any attempt in almost a month. I wish I could share the pictures with everyone.
