"Jim & Rob handled the service. When they realized that they were running late, they called early on to let me know. They were a completely in sink team. They were efficient, knowledgable and extremely courteous. My father had owned his own plumbing company post WWII, and was one of the first licensed plumbers in the state of Illinois; accordingly, I watched & had many plumbing questions regarding the install. Jim & Rob patiently shared their expertice. High recommend. A great experience."

"My bathroom was from 50 years ago, original to the house, I have a walk in ranch with concrete floors and radiant heat. The workmen did a fantastic job of taring down and remove the old cast iron tub, removed all the walls to expose the plumbing. I had to have a new drain installed and that needed the expertise of plumbers, after the new drain was installed in the concrete they came back and within one day the job was completed and it turned out fantastic. I am very very pleased with the work that Bath Plant did. I highly recommend them to anyone who would ask me."

  • Let me start by saying that Frank is a perfectionist and everyone that works for and with him is the same way.  We had previously used G&G to reface our kitchen cabinets and knew the standard of Frank's work.  Our master bathroom was outdated with a prefab shower, Jacuzzi tub and cherry cabinets.  We wanted everything taken out in order to modernize the whole room.  Frank offered many suggestions and we used most of them - turn the toilet around, get rid of the big built in tub and replace it with a free standing soaking tub (which is gorgeous!), and full length glass walls in the shower.  Chris and Robert executed those changes and everything was installed perfectly.  The work included:
  • - demo of the room

- rebuilding the shower stall from scratch, including tiling the floor of the shower and 2 of the walls, installing new fixtures and a niche  in the wall. An outside vendor installed the glass on the other 2 walls.
- turned the toilet around so it was in a better location.
- removed Jacuzzi tub, which included removal of all the piping related to it and reinstallation of plumbing for new free standing  tub. This tub also has a free standing faucet fixture which included a hand held shower.
- tiled the floor and base board.
- installed a double vanity which included approx. 5' towers on either end. Granite vanity top with undermount sinks, new plumbing fixtures, lights and mirrors (these were custom made by the glass company).  Let me comment that all of the electrical work and plumbing were done prior to receiving the cabinet.  Robert did all of this work off of the diagram and everything lined up perfectly once the cabinets were installed.
- painted walls and woodwork.
Frank was in constant contact with us during the project and stopped in to see how things were progressing.  There were no hidden costs and we paid Frank the amount he gave in his estimate.

"Rowe Construction took our tired and outdated bathroom to one that is modern and beautiful. Ryan was in contact with us, either by phone or text, at every step along the way. Any questions or problems were answered and addressed quickly. All the guys in his crew, from demolition, tiling, plumbing, installation and painting, were friendly and on time. They were careful and thoughtful about cleaning up daily and keeping the dust and clutter isolated to the bathroom. Ryan worked with us to keep the cost down and made several recommendations to improve design and save money where we could. We love the new look of our bathroom and would highly recommend Ryan Contruction and his crews for any home construction project you have."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

When learning how to design a plumbing system for a house, it's helpful to know that ABS pipes have fallen out of favor because they are less safe and efficient compared to alternatives. ABS pipes are made from a chemical called bisphenol (BPA) that may cause neurological and hormonal effects. Due to the fact that it has a lower melting point, ABS can also be flammable in high-temperature situations. Finally, ABS is prone to warping caused by heat and UV exposure. It can also fracture in frozen conditions.

Water main breaks are relatively common, particularly in areas with older infrastructure. The frequency of breaks depends on factors such as the age, material, and size of the water main pipes, weather conditions, and the overall maintenance of the water system. Older cities with outdated pipes are more prone to frequent breaks, while newer communities struggle less with this particular issue.

Water freezes at 32 degrees Fahrenheit, but the actual temperature that can cause frozen pipes can vary. Generally, it takes 12 hours for pipes to freeze at 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

Uninsulated pipes can freeze if it’s 20 degrees Fahrenheit or colder for over three hours. If your pipes are insulated, it can take six hours or longer for pipes to freeze. Note that some pipe types freeze more often than PEX pipes. Copper pipes freeze more often because the copper conducts energy and loses heat quickly.

Plumbing leaks are usually not covered by homeowners insurance because the problems are avoidable with proper maintenance. In most cases, you’ll have to pay out of pocket for a fix. However, if the leak is a direct result of a natural disaster, like an earthquake that cracked a pipe or a house fire, your insurance may cover the repairs.

Costs depend on sink type, labor, plumbing modifications, and whether additional fixtures need upgrading.
