"work was completed on a timely basis, we were extremely pleased with the quality of work which included replacing a hand railing on the pool deck and a side railing on our deck on the side of the house, Josh took the extra time to finish out deck in two different colors, he came back after the decks dried to place our pool ladder back on the deck"

"Noah Deck Repair did an outstanding job on repairing, power washing and staining my deck. They were professional and were able to accommodate my schedule. They also were able to expedite the process given that rain was in the forecast in the upcoming days. I highly recommend them for any deck repairs or staining project that you might have."

"I spoke with Daniel on 1st day, we conversed back and forth. Right away he stated they could fix the door to close properly. Sent pics, he gave quote and stuck by that amount. Later we wanted door plate done as well. Extra amount was fair. The worker was most efficient and no nonsense, didn't stop until he was done. Very happy. Will choose again for other projects for sure."

"Excellent! I honestly cannot say enough about Rob and his crew! The RFB team has to be the most friendly and detail oriented service team I have ever contracted. From quote to completion, the experience with these guys has been phenomenal! I received 2 quotes prior to start both from Angie's List and both A rated services. Quote #1: The first service to come in and quote was very reputable and friendly, but continued to make comments on how much detail work there was to be done and how any of the smaller patch areas would require a full wall, ceiling, etc repaint. The quote reflected those opinions and quite frankly, I don't think they wanted to job. Quote #2...enter Rob from RFB. Friendly, energetic and completely focused on me as the potential customer. His comments throughout walking the house and seeing the detail work that would be involved were simply "no problem". In addition and without me asking, Rob offered up that as long as had the original paint to color match they could very easily blend many of the patch ares on walls and ceilings without needing to do the whole thing. His comments..."we've been doing this a long time and I think we can save you money by doing this"...WHAT? THANK YOU ROB!! His follow up..."but if we find it's too noticeable or you don't like it, then we'll fix it to your satisfaction. Let me tell you, it all looks seamless! Another mention is that when Rob or the team were working an area and noticed something there that they didn't like or think would look good with the other fresh pain...they let me know and they addressed it...no charge. No to be confused with free work, but if they were already there they just took care of it. Again, THANK YOU ROB AND TEAM!! They tarped, they put plastic, they vacuumed and made sure the house was as livable as possible at the end of every day. Simply, top quality work and customer service. If you're reading this review, I highly encourage you to consider a quote from RFB for paint or drywall work. I will be hiring them again in the spring to re stain my deck. RFB will offer you great work at a fair price! Rob, Bob, Doug & Daryl - Thank you again! It was a pleasure having you here! Natha Green"

"Bob is an excellent contractor, He did lots of interior (bathrooms, kitchens, plumbing, electric, etc) and exterior work (porches, fences, decks, etc) at my two rental properties and mine own house as well. There is not a thing that Bob cannot fix. He responded to me always on time, job was always well done and the price was very reasonable. He has never disappointed me. As a landlord I have always knew that I can count on Bob anytime it does not matter how big was the job. Big five stars!!!"

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

Whether to paint or stain a deck depends on your personal preference for appearance and budget. Stain provides a natural look with a range of undertones, is typically less expensive, and may only require one coat, but it does not last as long as paint. Paint offers a sleeker finish with a virtually unlimited color palette. Both options will protect your deck from outdoor elements like rain, snow, and general wear and tear.

PVC decking tends to be cooler than composite because the material is less dense and absorbs less heat. However, it depends on the deck’s color. A dark-colored PVC deck may run hotter than a light-colored composite deck. If you’re concerned about your deck getting too hot, it’s best to stick to a light color such as beige or gray.

A sunroom is worth installing on a deck, both for the value and your own enjoyment. A Florida room addition costs between $10,000 and $140,000, so it’s pretty expensive. However, a quality sunroom can offer a 50% return on investment, making your home more sellable. Plus, if it’s a space you and your family enjoy relaxing in daily for years to come, it’s worth the money, time, and effort, even without the added monetary value.

In most cases, there should be a small gap between the house and the deck, usually no more than ½ to ¾ of an inch. This space allows water and moisture to flow through instead of pooling against the side of your house. It also lets flashing protect your siding from runoff, which is one of the most common issues with decks.

In most cases, your deck will need some form of deck footing to hold it in place, preventing moisture from rotting your wood and decreasing your deck’s lifespan. Concrete deck blocks are the most common type of footing for floating decks. Some homeowners use ground-level deck footings. For added security, consider digging and laying your ground-level footings below ground.
