"We cannot say enough good things about this company and the employees who represent it. We've used them for 12 years and they are very consistent: Always prompt and responsive; always fairly priced; always unfailingly polite; trustworthy. They stand behind their work (we have experience with this! You wouldn't believe what they had to do to stand behind a manufacturer's defect that had nothing to do with them...) If every company was this good think what a great world it would be!"

"Hours as stated on line are no longer reliable. One Friday afternoon I found them closed at 4:20; they are no longer consistently open in the afternoons and appear to take hour plus "breaks" since we have had to return multiple times to find them "open" again."

"I will never use another plumbing company!!! I have been using Culler Plumbing for several years now and have had nothing but great results! Dennis has always gone way above and beyond. I have a crawl space and my washer, drier and water heater plus my water softner are all in the same small room with no space to put pans under the water heater or water softner. And I have hardwood floors so whenever the water heater went out my floors would be ruined. He moved the water softner into my bedroom closet with a pan under it and put in a drain. Then was able to put a full size pan under my water heater and a drain which he hooked up to the plumbing under my crawl space. No more ruined floors!! Never had such a caring and expert plumber like him!! Thanks Dennis!!!"

We offer residential and commercial plumbing services from repairs, full remodels, and new construction. We carry supplies & offer 24 hour emergency service. Our services include: Kitchen & Bathroom Remodels, Water heaters, Fixture repair/replacement, Garbage disposal repair/replacement, Toilet repair/replacement, Gas piping, Code corrections, Cabling, Sump pumps, Back Flow testing, and more. Our Service Area Includes: Ballwin, Manchester, Chesterfield, Ellisville, Wildwood, St. Charles, Maryland Heights, Des Peres, Valley Park, Clayton, Ladue, Kirkwood, St. Louis County and St. Louis City"

"A plumber came to provide a quote on Wednesday and tested the all fixtures by running water, claiming the water is escaping through the gap in the shower door. I did ask him to test some more since the leak was not significant and consistent. He ran the water again... He only collected $90, which is what they told me on the phone, but he thought he should charge me more since he has done some work. We put a towel on the gap to trap the water but The leak SHOWED UP LATER AGAIN. I called back to ask for an immediate call back but they said it would be $300 minimum since it would be on the weekend. I decided to wait until Monday and on Monday they told me it would be Tuesday and they would charge me more if it is not plumbing related. I couldn't take any more work off so I had to cancel the service. Another company came over early morning to investigate again and they ran all fixture and cut the dry wall and finally found THREE trim nails had been shot into hot water pex piping in three locations in the master bedroom behind vanity. It was bad and my baseboard and dry wall are all molded. I just feel the plumber was unprofessional because there was not rust in the gap, the leak's location didn't match the gap, and all he did was run some water without even cutting the drywall to properly assess the leak and he only ran the cold water for some reason. Even though I accidentally turned on the hot water, the plumber said it wasn't necessary. The damage could be significant since the leak spread quickly after being touched, but they told me it would cost a minimum of $300 to fix, which should have been addressed properly from the start and No warranty on work."

FAQs for water softener service projects in Hamel, IL

The license requirements for water softener installation depend on your location. Some municipalities require that the installer hold a plumbing license, some require a permit and an inspection, but no license for the installer, and some require a permit and a license for the installer. Regardless of the local laws in your area, it’s always a good idea to hire a licensed plumber or installer. These pros will install your system properly and have the experience to size the system appropriately. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to check your installer’s license status.

Water softeners are worth the money if you live in an area with hard water. Hard water is safe to drink, but it poses serious threats to your plumbing system. The minerals in hard water will gradually build up on the inside walls of your pipes, reducing water flow to your fixtures. The minerals can also gradually corrode your plumbing system, reduce its lifespan, and increase the risk of leaks. Hard water also makes soap and detergent less effective. Water softener systems can solve all these issues, making them a great investment.

It’s possible to install a water softener yourself, but we don’t recommend it. Water softeners require working with copper pipes and electrical wiring, neither are suitable tasks for most DIYers. Plus, working with water and electricity together is dangerous and could pose a risk to your safety. Water softeners also need to be calibrated so that they don’t make your water too soft, as soft water poses just as many risks as hard water. Overall, it’s well worth hiring a local water softener installer to place your water softener system.

The cost to install a water softener system is $1,500 on average, ranging between $200 and $6,000. The labor for water softener work typically costs between $150 and $1,000, so you can add that to your equipment costs to get an accurate total. Your price will depend on many factors, including the following:

  • System capacity

  • Home size

  • Water hardness levels

  • Type of water softener

  • Presence of electricity in the installation area

  • Local permit costs

Your water softener size is based on your total household water consumption. In most cases, you can assume the average household member will use around 75 gallons per day. Multiply that by the number of people in your home, then multiply by 10 (for the typical grains per gallon). You’ll get a number in grains that should help roughly size your water softener. However, it’s best to hire a professional to install your system and use more exact numbers, like your exact average water consumption per day and starting water hardness.
