"Missed apt from 8-noon. I called them at noon. Showed up at 3pm. Not the right ladders for the listed height. Licensed electrician but $600 estimate for not even one hour to exchange a light fixture for another."

"Very please experience. He came out and diagnosed an electrical issue I was having with the outlets to the bathrooms. Replaced the GFI outlet and everything is now working. He was fast, professional and reasonably priced. I would definitely use this company again."

"Kris, the owner, was really friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful in setting it all up. The bid came in about $3,000 cheaper than from a well rated competitor. Ken and Sofi did the work in 1 1/2 days. They were prompt, professional, and friendly. They explained their work nicely. They worked well with the inspector and the line crew from Seattle City Light They cleaned up everything nicely. We are very happy with the work and hope to use Ion Electric again for a remodeling project."

"These guys were great! They were always on time, responsive to my questions and txt messages, worked together with me to design the garden patio area and did a skillful and artistic job of installation. You can tell they all like their jobs and take pride in their work. I highly recommend them."

".can't say enough about how great they are. at my church. We had a zinsco panel in there which can be quite a problem. we decided to replace it and really investigated companies carefully. these folks were so easy to work with, very clear communication, did exactly what they said they would do in a competent way, were on time no add-ons to the bid. wish I could give them a pluses.the City of Seattle offered us a rebate as we were putting in more efficient lights, which meant paperwork for Exact electric to help us complete the forms and coupons as they had to give some information. And the office people were so helpful and quick to deal with it. feel bad that I didn't review them earlier as they are excellent.

Lighting questions, answered by experts

No, you should not leave LED Christmas lights up all year. While the LED lights themselves are very durable, their wiring and casings can be as vulnerable as any Christmas lights. They’re subject to drying out, experiencing cold or sun damage that causes them to crack, and even damage caused by gnawing pests. (The same is true of incandescents.) If you want your lights to last the years that they’re rated for, bring them inside after Christmas is over.

If half of a string of Christmas lights is out, it is likely because of a single burned-out, loose, or broken bulb within that section. Long strands of lights often contain more than one circuit, so when one bulb fails, it can cause the entire circuit (or half the strand) to go dark. To fix this, inspect the unlit section and test each bulb to ensure it is tight and functioning properly. Replacing the faulty bulb or repairing a damaged shunt will typically solve the problem.

The easiest and best way to power your outdoor lights is with the use of outdoor outlets. Most building codes now require exterior outlets in homes, so you likely already have outdoor outlets available to plug into. However, you can have these outlets installed if your space doesn’t currently include them.

It’s fair to be concerned about handling pool lights or wiring in a pool filled with water. But fortunately, pool lights and swimming pools are designed to make it easy and safe to replace the lights without needing to drain the water. Instead, you can turn off the electricity to the pool as a safety precaution, unscrew the pool fixture, pull it up and out to the side of the pool, then change the bulb.

Cold weather can cause older incandescent Christmas lights to fail by causing cracks in the finish or the glass itself. Modern LED lights are affected in the opposite way and perform even better as the temperature drops.
