Customers say: True professional

"I hired Hector to replace part of the drywall in the kitchen that we had to remove because it had been tiled over. He also fixed a large hole in the living room where there was some damage. He was punctual, professional, and thorough. The final product looked amazing. He did such a good job. He blended the texturing so well, you couldn't tell where the new drywall ended and the old drywall began! See photos for part of the kitchen section, before and after."

Small jobs welcome

"I had an excellent experience with this drywall company from start to finish. They were professional, punctual, and did outstanding work. The quality of the drywall installation and finishing was flawless ? smooth seams, clean edges, and great attention to detail. They kept the work area clean, communicated clearly throughout the process, and completed everything on time. It?s hard to find contractors who take this much pride in their work. I highly recommend them and would absolutely use them again!"

"Needed drywall replaced in spare bedroom. Had a broken pipe in the room and lower drywall was soaking up the water. Had a specialist come in the run a machine to remove drywall and and get a special machine that removed mold in that room. That took a week. Specialist calls to setup a bid and replace lower drywall. Asked for a time line he said it would be a week before everything got done. He said the delay is because making appointments for people to get out was were the delay is at. The spare bedroom is a rented room and I was paying out of pocket to have roommate stay at a suite motel. ( Insurance will rememburse me. ) So I went to Angie's and described my time line problem. Uploaded then got a phone call from Jordan JR drywall specialist and asked if they could start today. They were at my house in one hour and started right way. Drywall was up and muddled in three hours. Came back next day to sand and texture and were done in three hours. Got the bedroom cleaned up,and read"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Although they have similar applications, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Their primary differences lie in their composition, consistency, and ideal use cases.

Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it thicker than joint compound. It dries quickly and is easy to sand, which makes it ideal for small wall repair projects like filling nail holes or patching minor damage.

Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum. It is primarily used for large-scale projects, such as taping and finishing the seams on newly installed drywall. It tends to shrink more than spackle and can be more difficult to spread.

While both products can be used to fill small depressions and cracks, spackle cannot replace joint compound for taping and mudding new drywall. Conversely, you can often use joint compound for small patching jobs typically done with spackle.

Your walls are likely cracking due to fluctuations in the temperature outside. Drywall tends to expand and contract when temperatures and humidity levels change, and this repeated movement can lead to cracks in your walls, particularly around door frames. If you have multiple diagonal cracks, you may want to have your foundation inspected, as cracks can also be a sign of a bigger issue.

If you already have plaster walls and ceilings, adding new plaster costs $2 to $10 per square foot. For an average-sized room, that would come out to $1,200 to $10,000. However, the cost to replace plaster with drywall is higher—running between $720 and $1,250 for a 10-by-8-foot wall or ceiling (not including drywall finishing).

Deciding whether to repair or replace drywall can be tricky, but your top considerations should be the extent of the damage and what caused the damage. For instance, if you need to repair a small hole caused by a doorknob that hit the wall, you can safely patch it without a second thought. However, if you have significant drywall damage caused by water damage, it’s best to thoroughly remove the drywall to inspect and repair the pipes behind it before replacing it.

The average cost to apply a skip-trowel drywall texture to walls is $1.25 to $2.00 per square foot. Ceilings cost slightly more because of the increased difficulty of working overhead. Additional cost factors include any drywall repairs and removal of existing textures or wallpaper.
