"Kyle was the contractor that came out to my mom‘s house and did a great job. He even carried the sink in from the garage for me. His job was to cut the kitchen quartz counter down to fit the new sink and he did a wonderful job! I would highly recommend Kyle for any kitchen tile project!"

"ID Granite offered us superior service. He came quickly to the house, answered questions and offered advice. Encouraged us to choose what we wanted. He accompanied us to purchase the slab. We found a leathered granite we had not considered. It is beautiful. (not that super shiny look). He then went with us to select the tile, going to more than one store. He and his son did a great job installing-it was quick and beautiful. When I pointed out a place where i wanted more calk, he returned to the house and fixed it. We had new counters and tile backsplash in less than a week! i would highly recommend ID Granite."

"I am grateful for Near Me Roofing Company! After a recent wind storm I noticed something out of place on my roof and began to get anxious. I called them and they stopped by the next day! They put a tile back that had blown off and inspected the rest of the roof -- I have no hesitancy in recommending them and will be sure to call again when the need arises."

"Yes, the job was well done and on time. We had a problem with the tile and grout in our walk-in shower. He explained what the problems were with the original installation and then cleaned the tile and replaced the grout. He also installed shower bars which will help us from falling in the shower. We highly recommend this gentleman."

"Cascade Countertops did a beautiful job with my countertops. I had them do two areas in the kitchen, the pantry, and a linen area. The young man who did the installation was professional and polite, and he did a careful and gorgeous job. He had to troubleshoot an area where my cabinets were not level, and he did it in a smart and non-destructive manner. There was a slight delay because the initial stone came in and was not up to Cascade's standards, but the new countertops quickly followed and matched perfectly throughout the entire project. Cost was exactly as quoted. They also arranged for my backsplashes through another capable company. Highly recommend!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

If the hearth ends against a wall, you can use a tile cutter as you normally would. However, if the edge of your hearth ends with no surface pressing against it,you may want to look into rounded tiles. These give a smooth edge to your hearth and make sure cut edges aren’t visible. You can also see if the tile you have has pieces that have been glazed or rounded on one edge. You’d then cut the tile and place it normally, with the cut edge facing inward.

You cannot tile directly over hot mop waterproofing because tile requires a smooth, solid surface to adhere properly. Additionally, the shower bed pan needs to be raised and sloped toward the drain to prevent water from pooling. However, you can hot mop and apply a sloped mortar bed over the top (to which the tile can then be adhered).

The best trowel for penny tile is a 3/16-inch-by-5/32-inch V-notch trowel. Because of the small size of the penny tile, you want a trowel with small notches that can lay a thin layer of mortar on the surface you’re tiling. If the notches are too wide, you risk applying too thick of a layer of mortar, and it can squeeze out between the penny tiles.

Bathrooms are naturally moisture-rich environments, so choose a durable, water-resistant tile for your tub surround. Porcelain and ceramic are two popular options that are also quite affordable. Glass is another good option that’s also low-maintenance—you just need a glass cleaner like you would use on the bathroom mirror. Natural stone tile is porous, but it’s still a viable option if you choose it in a glazed version.

Poured-in-place terrazzo flooring is more durable than tile. In fact, it’s one of the most durable types of flooring on the market. It can last anywhere from 40 to 100 years, depending on maintenance. On average, you can expect your terrazzo floor to last about 75 years, but you will have to make repairs as needed.
