He was honest, polite, forthright, accurate and his craftsmanship skills are excellent! I am very satisfied with how it turned out and I would recommend anyone in the area looking for some professional help on those tougher home renovation projects!"

"A fantastic service was provided by Near Me Roofing Company. Ari was always prompt and extremely organised in providing information, tile samples and quotes for my new roof installation. "Yes, the job was well done and on time. We had a problem with the tile and grout in our walk-in shower. He explained what the problems were with the original installation and then cleaned the tile and replaced the grout. He also installed shower bars which will help us from falling in the shower. We highly recommend this gentleman."

"We highly recommend Paul Haugen Construction company. Their work was excellent. Everyone at the company proven to be helpful, skillful, reliable and knowledgeable. They worked with us on tile selection and layout and with all our questions. The installation crew members were friendly, very considerate and accommodating during the long project. They worked with our schedules and needs. They even brought in and set up our TV early so we didn’t have to wait until the project was completely done to watch TV. We also trusted them enough to leave them to work on the project while we left for a beach vacation. They worked for us on a bathroom remodeling project that included building a new shower in our previous house. It was so successfully that we hired them later to do a large 1700 sq ft tiling project in our new home. The project included installing heating elements under the tile, laying new tile, installing trim and some wall modifications. We would definitely hire them for a future project."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes. You can tile over tile if the old tile is in good shape, but this will also create a thicker floor. As a result, you may have to remove and readjust baseboards and other room trimmings and potentially even raise door heights to work with the higher floors. In most projects, it’s best to remove the old tile before installing a new tile floor.

Natural stone floors, especially pebble-style tiling, are one of the least slippery options for a shower floor. Natural stone has a texture to reduce slickness, and pebble-shaped tiles add more visual and textural contrast while reducing slippage. Vinyl tiles are also designed with anti-slip texture for added safety. If you have a slippery tile, be sure to add a grippy shower mat to reduce the risk of falls.

The best paints for shower tiles include epoxy, latex, or acrylic. Ideally, you should look for paints that are waterproof and mildew-resistant if you plan to paint shower or other bathroom tiles. You can even find waterproof paints made specifically for tiled surfaces, which will be the best option for shower tile paint that lasts as long as possible.

It’s not necessarily normal for tiles to lift, although it’s one of the common issues people may have with their tile flooring. Tiles correctly installed by pros with expansion joints should not lift over time. However, if the installation was done poorly, you might see tiles tenting or lifting as the house settles. This is more common in high-moisture areas with extreme temperatures.

Penny tile should be sealed to protect the grout from moisture and keep stains from damaging the look of the tile. If penny tile is in a humid or high-traffic area, like a bathroom, kitchen, or entryway, it needs sealant. Any type of tile and grout is best maintained with a sealant reapplied by a pro every one to two years.
