"Tile Decor came to my rescue. Jeramie did a TON of scope within a 2 month period and at a very reasonable price. He remodeled 3 bathrooms (from the studs) and installed backsplash in my kitchen. He was super reliable and very easy to work with. He even performed more scope for me without asking knowing that it would make me happy. I appreciate all the work heâ s done and will certainly hire tile decor for my next major project."

"Yuriy (and Nikolai) did a masterful job of installing large-format porcelain tile in my dual-bathroom remodel. He worked closely with my carpenter to determine intricate framing for aspects like a subtly sloped shower floor (to facilitate a zero-threshold shower with linear trench drain), built-in t.p. holder, wall-mounted toilet and more. Yuriy made three different tiles (floor, walls and accent wall) sing. He nailed the grout-lines and gave experienced input so that I didn't make short-sighted, rookie decisions/mistakes. He and Nikolai were a pleasure to see every day (for two weeks!) and were reliable, prompt, long-working and didn't go missing or flake-out like most contractors can do. He recommended a great electrician and let me know that Octagon Construction performs full remodels."

"Yes, the job was well done and on time. We had a problem with the tile and grout in our walk-in shower. He explained what the problems were with the original installation and then cleaned the tile and replaced the grout. He also installed shower bars which will help us from falling in the shower. We highly recommend this gentleman."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Poured-in-place terrazzo flooring is more durable than tile. In fact, it’s one of the most durable types of flooring on the market. It can last anywhere from 40 to 100 years, depending on maintenance. On average, you can expect your terrazzo floor to last about 75 years, but you will have to make repairs as needed.

Glazed ceramic tiles don’t need to be sealed because the glazing already offers some protection against moisture. Unglazed ceramic tiles need to be sealed to keep the porous tile safe from moisture and staining. However, both types of tile can benefit from sealing. Sealant can make the tiles easier to keep clean and offer more resistance to water, spills, and stains.

The rule tells you how to cut tile to install it in a corner. The 3/4/5 rule recommends that you should have 3 feet across on one straight line, four feet on the other perpendicular line, and 5 feet of length from the end of one of the lines to the other. You’re making a right triangle with the tile, and the hypotenuse (the line across from where the 3-foot lie and 4-foot line meet) should be 5 feet long.

There are a few different tools you can use to score tiles. Manual tile cutters or tile scribes work well for scoring in straight lines. Tile nippers are one of the best options for scoring because they can make small and irregular cuts that larger tools may not be able to handle.

Installations typically take 1-3 days, depending on area size; repairs are usually completed sooner if the issue is localized.
