"Kenny repaired my Front door threshold. He was very easy to work with. He was always easy to reach by phone or text. He provided excellent service at a reasonable price. I will use K Hill Masonry in the future. I would recommend K Hill Masonry."
"Custom Masonry was one of several companies we contacted based on neighborhood recommendations. They provided a prompt estimate that was very reasonable and a very quick timeline. They showed up on time and ready to work with only a couple hiccups in communication. We realized belatedly the masonry cap the team installed was incorrect, but Custom Masonry was extremely responsive. They immediately replied to our concerns and sent the team back out to correct the mistake. We would absolutely use them again and we have recommended them to several of our other neighbors. "
"Jan. 20, 2021 We recently needed to have a major foundation issue looked at and evaluated prior to purchasing a house in Stephens City. Tony, from Lux, showed up before the appointed time, was very professional, was thorough in evaluating the foundation issue, took pics of the area in question, was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to about the issue, and he provided a very detailed report with photos. His evaluation was clear and gave us confidence enough to purchase the property. We would highly recommend this company! T.C. Stephens City"
"m in process of selling my house and I got dinged for what I originally thought were minor foundation cracks. I decided to have multiple companies come in and take a look at the issue. Company A came out and decided I needed a tier system costing 15K. I almost had a coronary. There were no signs that I had a major foundation issue so I found this a bit suspect. Next, I had Greg from NV Waterproofing come out do a visual inspection and take some measurements using his laser and level. In the end he told me I had normal settlement and to do nothing. Not even fill it b/c that way you can monitor it over time. I offered to pay them him for his time and he respectfully declined. I wish I had some work for him but I guess leaving a glowing review is the next best thing. I cant speak highly enough of Greg and NV. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy knowing their are good, honest business still out there."
"We had a patio installed at our rental property late summer in Fredericksburg and they were very accommodating and helpful throughout the whole process. We were not in state and they made everything extremely easy and smooth throughout the whole process. Excellent communication! Highly recommend and really appreciate Julie and Daniel on their help and patience on everything!"
"The crew was very experienced and was able to perfectly match the brick on our house, which was built in 1978. They kept us fully informed of progress and ensured that the work area was left spotless. We recommend them highly."

"The entire staff was excellent, First Tim met with us to devise a plan for the project. Beth helped us get what we needed from the HOA to get started. Once the materials were delivered, Graham was top notch in customer service. Thank you Graham for keeping us updated every step of the way and answering our questions. The workers Edwardo for the deck and Edwin for the paved patio did excellent work. We had some snags but Graham quickly took care of them quickly. Robin and I are very happy with the final product . Thank you everyone for the wonderful job."
"Julio and his crew were the epitome of professional service. I cannot emphasize how thorough, punctual and knowledgeable they, collectively, know their artisan talents. I needed to have part of a brick wall that had collapsed replaced with new. Julio carefully examined the other remaining brick wall, and pointed out several cracks ( due to groundhogs burrowing from underneath, further weakening the structure overall) . As Julio pointed this out to me , I agreed that it was only a matter of time before the rest of the wall would fail. I decided to have half of the wall replaced with stone block . As my budget allows, I will definitely have the remaining brick wall replaced with the new stone wall. Since I had a positive reaction with Julio and his team, we discussed other projects that I knew needed attention. I inherited a 200+ year old house with my eventual desire to sell in the next year. It is my observation through Julio that I bit the bullet and trusted him and his crew to repair stucco, reinforce the home’s foundation, replace screens on an enclosed deck porch, replace outdoor turf, repoint the mortar on the brick façade of the house and the brick front porch and walkway. I. 100% recommend ET General Contractor Inc. for any home improvements you may need. I truly feel that Julio’s honesty, integrity, professionalism and work ethic was what I believe to be the best possible scenario for what ended up being a clean, well-executed project, and still what I believe to be a fair price. I have Julio, his crew, and ET General Contractor Inc. on speed dial !!!!!!"
"We hired JES to stabilize the footers, slab floors, and a very large stone fireplace in the center of our home. This was a major project due to the age and structure of our home and it involved a considerable amount of work inside and outside of the home. Our salesman, Howard Glancy spent a considerable amount of time with us going over every detail and carefully explaining what needed to be done in order to achieve the results we desired. Our project manager, Moises Paz did an outstanding job informing us about what we should expect during the project as well as answering questions along the way. The foundation repair team (Jose Lopez (foreman), Victorino Joya, Daniel Yacila, Irvin Franco) that were responsible for installing the 13 push piers and 19 slab piers needed to stabilize the footers, slab floors, and a fireplace were always very professional and accommodating. This hardworking team arrived each day as scheduled, they answered questions, kept us informed on each stage of the job, and always left the job site neat. JES could not have assigned a better team to complete this portion of our project. I can’t thank them enough for helping make the experience manageable for us. The team responsible for injecting the poly filler under our home’s slab (Austin Hicks and Caleb Barron) were also very professional. They too arrived as scheduled, explained the process and answered questions. They even went above and beyond by injecting some poly filler under a small portion of my driveway that had sunk – free of charge! If I could give JES more than the 5 stars allowed, I would. We will definitely hire JES for any future projects should they arise."
In some cases, black stains on brick are caused by organic substances like algae and mold. However, it's more likely that the black spots you're noticing on your bricks come from carbon from vehicle exhaust or soot. Black stains can usually be removed by scrubbing the brick with a brush and masonry cleaner or power washing.
Handbuilt masonry fireplaces are likely what comes to mind when we think about curling up by the fire at the end of the day. But bricks in the firebox and chimney tend to be heavy, which is not ideal for homes with weak or damaged foundations.
Prefabricated fireboxes come with a full flue and chimney system, significantly reducing the price and installation time. However, if you need to replace the panels down the line, you are locked into the same model or something very similar.
In most cases, painting your brick house is a fine idea that can open up new aesthetic possibilities. However, the paint can slightly shorten the life span of brick, especially if moisture gets trapped underneath the paint layer. Once you paint, you’ll have to keep up with maintenance to avoid flaking and blisters.
Yes, brick should be clean before staining to ensure the best results. Dirt, dust, mold, mildew, and other substances on the brick can prevent the stain from properly adhering to it. Thoroughly cleaning the brick allows the stain to penetrate and bond to the surface more effectively. Cleaning typically involves using a pressure washer or a stiff brush with mild detergent. However, stubborn residue may require a specialized masonry cleaner.
Cobblestone is not a type of rock but a term for a mosaic or rock laid down as a surface. It used to be made from the closest available stone but now can be made from nearly any hard rock, as machining has made shaping the stone much easier and cheaper.
