It seemed like we were facing a complicated repair that would require extensive trenching and going through walls as well as a concrete floor. Randall from Jefferson Plumbing offered a trenchless replacement option that worked like a miracle. He installed a new line where the existing pipe had been with minimal disruption inside our house and outside by the meter. He was a consummate professional, explaining all our options as well as how his trenchless process worked from start to finish. He did the work quickly - basically in a day and a half. There are no major drawbacks or risks to oversizing a well pressure tank for your well. In some cases, having a larger pressure tank can increase its lifespan as it won’t have to cycle on and off as often, resulting in less wear and tear. Keep in mind that larger pressure tanks have a higher upfront cost and take up more space.

Septic tanks and cesspits are both types of sewage and wastewater systems, but they differ in key ways. The main difference between the two systems is that septic tanks separate sewage from wastewater and allow the latter to flow into a drainage field to filter and disperse into the soil. Cesspits don’t have outlets and instead, store sewage until it needs to be pumped by a professional.

The cost of sump pump installation varies depending on factors like the type of sump pump, labor rates, and the complexity of the installation. On average, you can expect to pay around $1,200 for a standard sump pump install. However, the cost may be higher if additional features like a backup system or extensive drainage work are required.

There are a couple of ways you can determine the depth of your well. One method is to use a device called a well sounder. This tool has a long measuring tape containing a sensor to alert you once the end reaches the water. 

Or you can DIY it by using a long tape measure with a half-filled bottle of water attached to it. Lower the tape measure into your well. Once you feel tension on the tape, you’ll know the bottle has reached your static water level. This will give you an approximate idea of your well’s depth.
