"I had an electrical outlet installed on my brick fireplace so I could hang my TV up. I was quoted from another company $600 and would have the outlet box exposed from the brick. I used Enoch and it done for $150. Plug looks great! I'll use Enoch anytime I need electric work done."

"William, the Technician was very professional and discovered the problem right away. Then informed me that he would perform a safety check on all the electrical connections in the electrical panel free as part of the agreed on pricing. This was a really good experience and would highly recommend Mr Electric North West to anyone who need electrical help!"

"Javier was absolutely wonderful! When he came for the quote he pointed out other problems he saw around so I could get the proper technicians to come fix it under warranty. He also installed a new RV outlet in my yard and educated me and my husband about other electrical things around our new house that we did not understand. He was very quick, informative, and just generally a nice human being. I’m pretty sure he smiled the whole entire time even while I bombarded him with questions and problems. I got a quote from many electricians for this job and I actually paid $400 more for this company to come out because of how great the service was and how educational they made the experience"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

It’s not a good idea to mix LED and incandescent Christmas lights if you can avoid it. LEDs and incandescents can have significantly different electrical current needs. This difference can lead to a higher risk of problems and failure for both light strands. When possible, switch all your lights over to one kind or the other for the best results. Do not connect the different types of light strings to each other, and avoid linking them to the same circuit.

An outlet can trip because the circuit it’s on is overloaded, meaning the devices plugged into it are drawing more power than the circuit can safely carry. Another culprit could be because a power surge from a storm or accident caused a problem with your local electrical grid or there’s a short or a fault causing power to run through the circuit in a dangerous or unplanned way.

Qualified, licensed electricians will charge from $50 to $100 per hour. The cost to hire an electrician for emergency visits may range from $100 to $200 per hour because this urgent service usually takes place during off hours and may require an electrician to leave or reschedule jobs they’re currently working on. Scheduling work on holidays or during periods of high customer demand, like after a major storm, will also lead to higher rates or extra fees.

It depends on where you live. Some cities may require a permit for electrical work, while others don’t. You’ll need to call your city’s building department to determine if you’ll need to apply for a permit or not. If a permit is required, you’ll likely have to pay a fee for it.

A 10,000-watt generator can run a small to mid-sized central AC unit (typically up to 3 tons or 36,000 BTU) along with a few other appliances. However, larger AC units or additional loads will require a bigger generator. Consult a local generator installer to ensure you add the correct size generator to your home.
