Jimmy showed up right on time at 8:30 in the morning and set to work.   He worked with good humor even as the job turned out to be bigger than expected since some of the connecting metal conduits could not be replaced without first removing the meter box and two cutoff switch-boxes.  We originally thought that we could salvage the original pole that had been pulled down and ripped off the top of the meter box, but it turned out to be bent, so Jimmy called for a replacement and had it and other necessary parts delivered while he worked.  He struck a good balance between replacing parts that needed to be replaced while preserving original parts where possible to keep the cost down.

B&H Electric provided an excellent quote for the work that came in significantly lower than the competition and provided wonderful service.  He went above and beyond the call of duty and stayed late to finish the job so that we could get our power back as quickly as possible.  He didn't leave until after 10:15pm, working outside amidst the mosquitos under a work-light until the job was done.  He even sealed the new gutter box with silicone so that perhaps it will last a few more years than the last one did.

I'd use B&H again in a heartbeat for any electrical job we have.

"We used Angi.com to find an electrician to install an EV charger we bought for our new EV. Sear Electric responded quickly, came out to complete a visual review of what was needed and they produced a very reasonable quote for the installation of the charger in our garage. The employees were very communicative, friendly and professional, and the overall quality of work was excellent. The guys who did the installation were also very patient as I made sure I got the app connected and verified the charger would indeed charge the car. We are pleased with the work Sear Electric did and would hire them again if we have any other electrical issues or projects."

"Mark Vega of Vega Home Improvement is professional, quick to respond, skilled, and accommodating. I have worked with this business for multiple projects now and will continue to call as both large and small things come up. Some of the projects I'm the most pleased with include fence installation/customization, drywall work, and electrical improvements and installations. I will soon be working with the business to remodel my porch and deck. I trust Vega Home Improvement completely and am beyond pleased that I found this company. I have him on speed dial!"

"They showed up on time, provided a reasonable price, and performed the work in a timely manner. I'm only docking a star for work quality because they mounted my EVSE a bit hastily and had to slightly re-position it with new mounting holes to reach the 240V outlet they installed. The measurements were known beforehand, so this could have been avoided. The unused mounting holes are mostly covered by the EVSE mounted on the wall of my garage. The actual electrical work appeared to be top-notch."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Kingwood, consider flood risks—some neighborhoods require elevated electrical panels or outlets. Hurricane preparedness is essential, so installing surge protection and planning for generator hookups is wise. High humidity demands weather-resistant components, especially for outdoor lighting. HOA rules may affect project scope, and mature trees can complicate overhead wiring. The age of your home’s electrical system may also influence rewiring needs and safety upgrades.

Helpful?

In Kingwood, electrical project timelines depend on the scope and local conditions. Panel upgrades generally take 1-2 days, while whole-home rewiring may require 3-7 days, especially in larger or older homes. Simple tasks like installing outlets or switches typically need 2-4 hours per location. Weather, permit approvals, and seasonal demand—especially during hurricane season—can all extend project durations, so plan accordingly for electrical safety and efficiency.

Helpful?

To enhance safety in Kingwood homes, install GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor areas, and use tamper-resistant outlets to protect children. Arc-fault circuit interrupters add another layer of electrical safety in living spaces. For pets, secure cords and panels, and choose low-voltage outdoor lighting. In flood-prone areas, elevate electrical components and add surge protection to guard against frequent storms, keeping your family and pets safer year-round.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Kingwood often overlook permit requirements, which can delay projects or lead to costly corrections. Using improper wire gauge for the local climate, skipping surge protection for frequent storms, and attempting DIY work on main panels are frequent errors. Failing to weatherproof outdoor lighting, ignoring HOA restrictions, and not planning for generator connections during hurricane season can also create setbacks and compromise electrical safety.

Helpful?

Before starting electrical work in Kingwood, confirm all necessary permits and secure HOA approval if your neighborhood requires it. Schedule inspections early to avoid bottlenecks, and verify your contractor’s licensing and insurance. Assess your home’s electrical load, especially if adding appliances or outdoor lighting. If you’re in a flood-prone area, ensure your plans meet elevation requirements and consider backup power solutions for hurricane preparedness.
