I had bought one of Angie's List deals where I paid $99 for $400 on custom blinds for windows. The initial visit went okay, but I quickly found out that you really couldn't get anything for that deal I purchased. Unless you just wanted to get 1 Standard size window covered. Needless to say the price just turned out to be a lot more than expected. I have a huge bay window in the front of my house that I wanted to get blinds for. I ended up paying  $1,600 - $400 for the Deal I purchased on Angie's List for $99, so basically I ended up paying $1,300  for one blind for a big bay window. It's real nice blind. I choose the light reduction option, as well as the cordless option. It does exactly what I wanted it to do and I really like the option to open it from the top or the bottom. So the pricing went as follows,

Basic cost of Blind = Standard Cost

I have an abnormal size window so Custom Size Blinds = Extra Fee

Shipping = Standard Cost

But since I have a Larger then normal window I need to pay extra shipping ($200)

Sun Blocking Option = Extra Fee

Cordless Option = Extra Fee

Installation = Standard Cost

Overall, I'm happy with it. Though I do feel that if I had shopped around a little bit more I could've gotten a better deal. I've gone to Home Depot and Lowe's and have found a few blinds that are similar and much cheaper. I sure there are others out there that could have done the same for much less.

"The team was wonderful, from start to finish.  Timely contact made after purchase, impeccable attention to detail (perfectly done, no 'light' patches, not splatters or overrun of paint onto ceilings, baseboards, cabinetry, etc...).  The men who came to do the work were gentlemen and hard workers.  Can't say enough good things :)  Thanks, Jane & Co!

"The 2 owners (Mike and Mike) called first to let me know they were on their way; arrived on time; were very pleasant; repaired and serviced both my sprinkler system and landscape lighting system, including making a trip to get needed parts. After completing the job (2-3 hours), they handed me the invoice, which literally seemed so low that I asked if they made a mistake -- if I was under-charged. They explained that all of the labor was included in the $80 service charge to inspect the irrigation system. I thanked them and informed them that they are now my new sprinkler/lighting guys. I will use them from now on, and I highly recommend them."

Lighting questions, answered by experts

While most general electricians can repair lamps and light fixtures, it is often better to hire a lamp repair specialist. Many electricians prefer larger jobs, such as fixing electrical systems or relocating fixtures, and may not offer lamp repair services due to the small scale of the work. Additionally, some lamps, particularly antique models, require dedicated expertise that a general electrician might not have. A lamp repair specialist will be familiar with various types of fixtures and can provide a more dedicated service. If you have already hired an electrician for a larger project, you can ask them to look at your lamp, but for a standalone repair, a specialist is typically the best option.

If half of a string of Christmas lights is out, it is likely because of a single burned-out, loose, or broken bulb within that section. Long strands of lights often contain more than one circuit, so when one bulb fails, it can cause the entire circuit (or half the strand) to go dark. To fix this, inspect the unlit section and test each bulb to ensure it is tight and functioning properly. Replacing the faulty bulb or repairing a damaged shunt will typically solve the problem.

Yes, animals can trigger motion-sensor lights. In fact, this is a reason why some homeowners install motion-sensor lights, to catch sneaky little critters looking through the rubbish for a midnight snack. There are sensitivities to animal detection though, so you may want to look for an option that avoids animal detection as much as possible.

It’s fair to be concerned about handling pool lights or wiring in a pool filled with water. But fortunately, pool lights and swimming pools are designed to make it easy and safe to replace the lights without needing to drain the water. Instead, you can turn off the electricity to the pool as a safety precaution, unscrew the pool fixture, pull it up and out to the side of the pool, then change the bulb.

To maintain your outdoor lighting and prevent major issues, you should regularly clean the fixtures, inspect the wiring and connections, and replace worn or burnt-out bulbs promptly. These simple steps ensure consistent operation and extend the life of your lighting system.
