"David arrived as planned. He lacked one of the drill bits needed for the job so it took him longer than he and we had planned. We/he were able to borrow a bit from one of the community members. The residents are very pleased with the light/light install."

"Overall they did an excellent job and I’m very pleased. The crew showed up on time and worked steadily. There was a great deal of prep work required. They sanded and primed everything. They also had to patch places that my dog had damaged. They were polite and I was comfortable leaving them alone in the House. It seemed a little expensive but it was in line with, or less than other estimates i got. I have not had pro interior painters before so I really didn’t know what to expect. I’d recommend them to anyone and would definitely use then again."

Lighting questions, answered by experts

Inspect for burnt-out bulbs, secure connections, and protect from water exposure to maintain functionality.

Installing outdoor lighting can increase your home’s value by up to $2,500. The average ROI on landscape lighting is around 50%, but how much your home increases depends on the market, the type of lighting, and whether you have a strong strategy for your landscaping lighting project. LED and solar lighting may offer the highest ROIs.

DIY is possible for minor issues like bulb replacement. Professional services ensure proper wiring and functionality.

If your lights are shorting out during rain storms or other winter events, you should probably replace them. These shorts indicate electrical issues that could cause serious hazards. Look for outdoor-rated lights with connectors made for rainy conditions to replace them. But if your Christmas lights are new and you want further protection, you can find weatherproof covers to add to the male-end connectors of your Christmas light strings. These can minimize the risk of shorts.

While most general electricians can repair lamps and light fixtures, it is often better to hire a lamp repair specialist. Many electricians prefer larger jobs, such as fixing electrical systems or relocating fixtures, and may not offer lamp repair services due to the small scale of the work. Additionally, some lamps, particularly antique models, require dedicated expertise that a general electrician might not have. A lamp repair specialist will be familiar with various types of fixtures and can provide a more dedicated service. If you have already hired an electrician for a larger project, you can ask them to look at your lamp, but for a standalone repair, a specialist is typically the best option.
